Comment:

Hes very mellow and very easy to get along with. He has clicker questions to engage in lecture and also give you an easy 50 point grade for the clicker and if you dont miss more than 2 days of class he gives you 10 bonus points. His test are very hard because there arent a lot of questions on them, and he does grade quite harshly.

Comment:

Carter knows what hes talking about in lecture but how he explains some topics is very confusing. Didnt answer questions in class and only wanted to answer questions during office hours. Very tough grader. Didnt give really any partial credit on exams. Do practice problems or you wont pass. Does get an attitude with students.

Dr. Carter was a great professor. He really takes the time to make sure everyone understands what is going on. Do the practice tests and the problems in the book and you will be fine! I would definitely take him again.

Comment:

I took this class in the Summer and honestly don't think I could have gotten my grade without doing that. It's a lot of material- but Dr. Carter covers all it. He is a tough grader for sure- but quizzes act as a precusor to how he will grade on tests. You have to give this class all you got- challenge yourself in studying!! Dr. Carter is nice!!

When it comes to his information delivery style, he's actually very good. He gives very thorough lectures and is really good about answering questions in class. He gives partial credit on exams, but he is a pretty tough grader. NOT understanding about family/medical emergencies. had multiple serious health issues that my grade was penalized for.

Dr. Carter knows his stuff and is a very organized teacher. He is very helpful with anything you are unsure about, and he gives you plenty of material to do well in the class. However, the key word is effort. You must put forth the effort. Do the suggested problems and go over the previous year quizzes and exams thoroughly. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Carter is a great teacher, but you have to set yourself up for study. In other words, know the material so well. It is no joke cuz he is a tough grader. My problem in the class at first was that I wasn't practicing well enough; I knew the materials but I wasn't testing myself well enough. Hence, go over the suggested problems and past exams!

He's a good teacher, but this class isn't an easy A or B. His tests are extremely difficult!! not only that He's a A$$ when it comes to grading! He tries to take off any points he can. Took off points because one kid drew the molecule a little crooked! His goal in the class is "How can I trick these guys on the test".Average grade in my class is D

Organic chemistry is not easy, however dr carter tries to make it as easy as he can. He doesn't try to trick u on tests, you must do homework problems and study hard for lab quizzes cause they are very unpredictable. He is very helpful about explaining things when they don't make sense..take him!!!!!!

Pretty good professor overall. Good with answering questions during lecture, and labs aren't boring. Doing the suggested problems in the textbook is a must, and most all exam questions come from lecture and his powerpoints. Definitely glad I took him.

Comment:

O Chem II is very hard. He teaches very well though. I had Tarkka for O chem I and I liked Carter more, but they are equal in teaching ability. Tarkka just seems to talk a lot faster but says the same things that Carter would. Read the book, do the recommended problems, and you have a chance for an A. I'd take him again if I needed the class.

Organic Chemistry is not an easy class at all. Dr. Carter explains the ins and outs of the material. Carter fulfills his end of the teaching part, just the you have to fulfill your part of being a student.

I would highly recommend Dr. Carter for Organic 1. He always set aside time for questions and explained things until we understood. He has a dry sense of humor but tries to make the class tolerable. There are 4 tests, multiple quizzes, labs, and a comprehensive final. Study the powerpoints & do the recommended problems & you will do well! Take him!

First things first, he is tough, but you will know the material when all said and done, he does help, but won't do everything for you. You have 4 test, some quizes and a comprehensive final. The labs are actually very interesting, just don't get discouraged if you get a bad grade, plenty of time to bring it up, all around good quality professor.

I have no clue how anyone actually likes this guy. He is a complete jerk. I asked for help many times and he seemed annoyed and basically told me I was incapable of succeeding in his class. Funny thing is, I am rather good at chemistry usually. I would've chosen some other "harder" professor had I know what a terrible professor he was.

Its funny how people say this guy is approachable....he was very cocky when I took him and to be honest, I would have rather taken a "more difficult" professor who actually gave a crap about his students. He is rude and he could choose to be more helpful if he wanted to. No clue what lab was about because he NEVER explained it.

He is an awesome professor, His test are a tough, but organic chemistry is tough, will help you, best bet do problems he assigns you. He grades lightly on labs most of the time. His old exams he post are very useful. You can understand him, and he makes the class worthwhile. His final exam is comprehensive so try and do well on all your exams.

He is a good teacher and helpful. Hard at grading and not considerate enough. I had 89% and gave me a B in the course. Had high expectations but failed to get an A. Overall, he teaches well, helps do ur HW, and give practice tests. I liked his class.

I HATE chemistry and still think Dr. Carter is the best organic teacher I could have had. He tries to make a difficult subject as easy as he can. He's very approachable, always keeps his office hours, and is very patient with chem dunces like me. Look over the practice tests and quizzes from the past semester! Come to class and you'll be okay.

Dr. Carter is an excellent teacher. Organic is extremely hard but Dr. Carter teaches it well. He is VERY approachable. He always keeps office hrs and is always willing to help. I am not a fan of Chem but he is one of the best profs I have had here at UCA. Definitely take him. He's not easy (no org class is easy) but he's very good.
