Comment:
Cindy has an incredible amount of knowledge on Finance, but she's not the best in explaining the content. She makes problems appear much more complicated than it has to be. The class is heavily test based so if you don't do well on one, you have to do really well on the others. I wouldn't recommend her overall unless you have no choice.

Comment:
If you have one bad test then look at your gpa being automatically lowered. Her lectures are not the best is an overstatement. She will yell at you to put your electronic device away and is very vague in her lectures as its all word of mouth. Attendance is key.

Cindy will teach you relevant material! She will teach you useful life skills like how to get your credit card interest rate lower and how powerful investing small amounts of money can be. No homework. She will give you problems to work on that will be practically identical on the exam. The one negative is that she docks you attendance points.

Cindy is one of the very best in the CU Business school. She is very knowledgeable about finance and care about her students. Take her over the others if you want to learn a lot. She gives you a formula sheet on the exams so all you need to do is study which problem use what equation. Do all her supplemental problems and you should be fine.

Cindy knows her stuff, but also she wants you to portray what you learn to her in a VERY SPECIFIC WAY. It is not bad at all, but just will be different than what you are use to. Be prepared to READ her material before class and she really wants you to learn, but you might be intimated at first. Nonetheless, she is great and respected. You got it!!

I've never taken Cindy for any other finance class before this one and I did great in this class. She'll give examples of how she expects the work to be written and will answer any question you have. She allowed a cheat sheet, any calculator, and even given the class 100% on the final ( I wouldn't expect that to happen again).

I felt like I was really the only student I knew who didn't absolutely love or totally hate Cindy. Cindy is extremely knowledgeable about finance but maybe not the best at teaching it. I have graduated with my finance degree from CU-Denver and looking back at her class, I really didn't learn a lot compared to others. Lots of math problems.

The book she wrote is absolutely fantastic to the point where I recommend buying her book if you are taking FNCE 3000. It is a fantastic study guide, however, do not take the class with her. She makes it extremely hard for absolutely no reason. You are going to invest your time learning how she wants the answers to look like more than anything else

3 exams worth 100 points and participation points worth 45 and that's it. She gives plenty of material to prepare for the exams so do the supplemental problems every day! Pay attention to what she wants as the 3 and 4 step set-ups. You can get the right answer, but if you copy the formula wrong or fill in the formula incorrectly, it's all wrong

Great and amazing teacher, knows what she's talking about. Very informative with lectures and what's important. But, your grade in the class depends on 3 tests and 3 tests only. No homework. So do mediocre on one test? You're pretty much screwed, unless you can do well on the second let alone the third one. not really fair considering shes harsh.

Tough grader due to expertise but does not understand that not all students are finance majors. Wrote the textbook that is outdated. Don't talk even if trying to help others. She will remind you that she is in charge and nobody is allowed to help others learn. If looking for an "intro" class, find another. You can get an MBA after this if you pass.

Cindy is one of those profs who hates when people don't try. If you try and understand the material you will pass for sure. She's clear & not out to trick you unlike most people say. Do the supplemental problems packets; her tests are similar to those. Visit a tutor if you must for clarification and put in work. If you're a finance major take her.

I have been out of school for 3 years and this is the only teacher that made a difference. I dropped her class the first go around and HATED her. I took the same class with her the following semester and took it very seriously and excelled. If you want a easy way through then this is not your teacher, If if not pick her.

If you work hard, pay attention, and do the practice problems, you will have no trouble getting an A in this class. She is very old school so no talking or cell phones. She is straight the point and will not make time for slackers.
