You probably won't appreciate Dr. Clarke's methods until you get to orgo. In a nutshell, go to class and pay attention. He gives you all of the materials you need to pass and do well; you just have to work a little harder for his class.

The test aren't as bad as people make it out to be. You can literally predict what he'll put on his upcoming test by looking at tests from previous years. If you study hard, and have enough brain cells to connect the dots, the tests shouldn't be issue. Overall, the tests are fair.

Dr. Clarke isn't the most exiting professor but he gets the job done. His lectures are dry but he really tries. Definitely utilize the test archives to study, but go over the notes to understand the concepts first. For the quizzes, as long as you can do the textbook problems you shouldn't have any issues.

Nice, funny person, horrible professor. If you think of some of your high school teachers make most of the nonsense yet she/he is so warm-hearted, it's pretty much how he is. But the test is super hard. His lecture makes you feel you aced it, but most likely you would get a C+ or lower on his exams.

Dr Clarke is a very smart proffesor. However, when it comes to teaching he is awful. Probably, he is good with the smart students but he is horrible and unapproachable with students that are trying to make sense of what he is teaching. The school should really try to hire a better Chemistry professor.

Dr. Clarke is a very good professor. His exams are very hard, but he gives you the tools to succeed. He will curve if needed, but don't depend on the curve. Do the old exams and don't be tricked by how easy the quizzes are. Dr. Clarke is a very smart and if you reach out he will help you.

Comment:
Gen Chem w/ Clarke is extremely tough. You have to work for just a B. Your grade is based on 3 quizzes (12 pts each), 3 exams (100 pts each) and a final (150 points). The quizzes are easier compared to the exams, which are MC or math based, and you plug your answers into blackboard. A question wrong, you lose 4 points, even for a sig fig error.

Dr. Clarke is a really good professor. He gives easy to follow note packets and if you have any questions he holds help sessions every week where you can ask them. His tests can be difficult but if you do the old tests you can get a sense of what his questions are going to be like. Just read the questions carefully and understand what he is asking.

The fact of the matter is he's probably the best professor you'll have at ACP. He's a fantastic teacher who is very enthusiastic about the material and most importantly makes it interesting. He expects you to know the material well, but more importantly to think critically. His test are very challenging but you are given all the tools to succeed.
