I took her over the summer, many think she's hard, I personally did not. She grades you hard because she knows you can improve. I took her over the summer and did not mind the class at all. She wants her students to succeed. Would take her again if I could!

Took the class over the summer. The assignments are straightforward but she grades tough on the speeches. The papers are short and easy A's. Group projects always suck for me. If you have a hard time speaking you'll struggle in this class but will see real improvement if you go through with it.

So I took this class, and it's essentially an easy B. She doesn't give a ton of homework, but the stuff she does give is worth its weight in percentage, so if you miss one assignment your grade can plummet in a snap. And also, I must say that she tends to be passive aggressive sometimes. It's humor, but it's not funny when you're the subject of it

If you have a fear of public speaking and struggle, stutter, or pause. You will not get an A in this class. She shows no mercy and expects perfection. If you love talking in public in front of the class, you will get an A. She's too strict in grading.

Thought I was doing well until I flubbed one of our 2 speeches. Was still doing fine until she posts a grade from the beginning of the semester. That's the story of how my grade went from a high B to a D. Also, no feedback on my work at all. Numbers aren't feedback

Good teacher. Really funny and a good sense of humor. Just read the directions and do what you're supposed to do. Not a very difficult class. We didn't use the textbook, and we didn't have any exams.

Speech class.. not as easy as you would think. She is a tough grader. Written assignments are very simple and easy A's, just beware of your speech grades. You get all of your grades back on the paper you turned it in so just KEEP TRACK of ALL of your grades because she does not use canvas for grading. Class is fun and expect to get out early.

You have to work for that A! Follow the rubric and you should be fine. She is really funny but she does have a mean side. She does not give out easy grades, and the group speech you have to do is a killer! Beware!

It's a pleasant experience to be in Debbie's class. She is a really experienced lady in public speaking and ensures students know how to do it right. She is practical and simple, but meticulous while grading. Do your job well done and you'll get good results.

I took this class over the summer for 10 wks. It was pretty easy but did have consist of a lot of writing. Mrs. Ross told a lot of outrageous stories and at times you worrie if all was ok. LOL! Overall not a bad class at all.

Stood up and gave a 3 hour lecture, was somewhat funny, but then after 3 classes and only 1 practice speech tuned overly serious and expected you to be a master speaker; harsh grader as this is no way to teach people how to be good speakers. Take Heidi Castle-Smith as she had a much better smooth approach and wasn't unnecessarily harsh as Mrs. Ross

Some people say it is a hard class, but I found this to be very easy. Maybe she's more lenient on those who take the class in the winter. She was very helpful and I think I benefited more from becoming a better public speaker than earning a grade. Good professor for speech.

Debbie is one of the best professors for taking speech. Don't expect an easy if. You basically get what you deserve in her class. Don't be late and she does count attendance. I dreaded taking speech but after her class I am so much more comfortable speaking in front of people.. You can learn a lot from her.

Debbie is one of the best instructors I have ever had. I am rating her before she has even posted my grade. Whatever she averages I am sure that it will be what I actually earned. Debbie is very direct and really does care about her students. I will miss her dearly!

Debbie is one of the most amazing professor's I have had yet. Although I had her class over the winter semester, I can see that she is willing to work with people who are willing to put forth the effort to earn an A in her class. My advice is to take the class seriously and don't expect an easy A.

She was a very harsh grader, I am used to getting A's and I earned a B in her class. However I learned a lot and our class had a lot of fun. She is challenging, but I would definitely recommend taking her class.
