Took this class spring term. So glad I did. Lots of reading. Really liked his selections. Tests weren't unreasonable. Cutchins was fun and his lectures were interesting. Wanted us to succeed and gave opportunities for extra credit. One of my favorite English teachers. Highly recommend.

Super interesting and hilarious professor. For the Honors 220 class that he teaches he has a great chemistry with the other teacher, Dr. Poole. Sometimes the grading was a bit unclear and usually it took a while for them to grade tests and papers. Makes you think and exposes you to a lot of diverse opinions.

Dr. Cuthins was a great professor. He likes to share funny stories to provide additional insights. The class is mixed infection and literature so there are 2 teachers every day. Good basic information regarding immunity and literature. Dr. Cutchins sees a B as adequate work and an A is outstanding. He was a funny guy which made lectures enjoyable.

Dr. Cutchins is fantastic. He and Dr. Poole made a great team for this class. He showed as much passion for the science element of the class as he did the literature element, which made it that much more fun. He definitely increased my appreciation of good literature and the humanities, which are both things I don't always get in my major.

Such a great teacher - he's the kind that'll remind you why you love literature. This six-credit class was heavy on reading, but that's to be expected. Dennis is hilarious, and his lectures are never dull. The tests are challenging, but fair - I would suggest actually taking notes in your book as he goes through the important parts of the readings.

International Cinema was a really fun elective class and Dr. Cutchins is a great, funny, smart teacher. Class is only 2.0 credit hours and involves watching three films at the IC each week, but the movies are great so if you can make the time commitment you'll really enjoy the class.

Professor Cutchins is one of my favorite professors. He is very laid back and absolutely hilarious. He is very helpful with papers and has entertaining lectures. I have nothing bad to say about him. He is a very reasonable grader and does do extra credit if you find something that he thinks is worth the points.

I can't say enough good things about Professor Cutchins. He is down to earth, funny, and likeable. He focuses on things that really matter like developing good research and writing skills. His teaching style is very relaxed, which makes him both an approachable and interesting professor. I would definitely take another class from him.

He is my favorite professor at BYU. Your mileage may vary. He knows his stuff and if you meet him half way, you will learn more in his class than in any other. He is very kind and understanding. Very reasonable when it comes to due dates, etc. I will take any class he teaches.

Dr. Cutchins is the best professor I've ever had! He's super intelligent, very friendly, and always willing to work with you. The tests weren't super difficult, the papers were fun to write, and the overall quality of the class was great. There is a lot of reading, but it is an English class after all. Take it from him if you have the chance!

This class really wasn't my cup of tea. He let us choose which literature to read so some of the stuff was cool, and some of it not so much. Some of the stuff on the tests were really random, and he didn't really explain the paper, so on some things he wasn't very clear. He is not super hard.

Cutchins is literally the funniest professor I have ever had. We get on tangents a lot in class, but I feel like he has a large base of knowledge of the books were talking about. If you're not an English major, don't take American novel. He grades pretty hard on the papers. If you've never used MLA and don't know how to write a thesis, don't bother

Cutchins is great. Personable, funny, and reasonable. Because of that, however, I found myself slacking off in his class - because I could! If you're the same as me, just be aware that this is not a teacher that will frighten you into working hard.

Professor Cutchins has a conversational lecture style. I don't think we always covered what he had planned for the day, and at times I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be taking notes on, but the class was enjoyable and the tests were fair. If you're smart he'll favor you with his smiles.

Cutchins is my favorite teacher! He is super fun and funny. He know a lot about American literature. We had one big paper and some other smaller assignments. Two tests that weren't very hard. We had quizzes often on reading so it helps to keep up on that, but they are worth minimal points. He offers extra credit. Awesome! Take any class from him.

I've read some reviews about how Cutchins assigns large readings. He has since changed his syllabus and it is VERY manageable now! Readings average about 10 pages a night, but they are always really interesting. His lectures are inspiring & tests are more than fair. I highly, highly, highly recommend this teacher.
