Klumpp is a great lecturer. If you show up to class and read the book you will do fine in the course. Review the practice exams since they are very helpful for the exams. The lectures are fast paced but he explains the material very well. Large curve as well.

To do well in this class, you must read the book, show up to lecture, and do the end of the chapter problems. Exams are straightforward if you put in the work outside of class. The exam averages were in the 40's and 50's obviously because it's organic chemistry. But, getting a "A" is completely possible.

Tough class, make sure you do the suggested HW problems. Does not post exam problems outside of class and goes very fast through notes so make sure to pay attention. Do the practice exams, they are very close to the actual exam. This is a hard course that requires you to look in the book and do practice exams to do well.

Dr. Klumpp is a great lecturer. You have to read the book and show up to class if you want to earn an A. I would recommend to read the book and do the in-chapter problems at the end of each section and also the end-of-the chapter problems. The 4 unit exams and final will be very easy if you do this. Big curve at the end. Easy/great professor.

Flies thru notes in class, often erasing things he just wrote on the board before there's time to copy them down. No use in printing his notes to follow along with, bc he won't post them until 34 seconds before class starts. Doesn't post grades, besides mentioning an exam avg was a 40, so you won't know if you're gonna pass until the sem is over.

You don't need to read the textbook, but the optional homework questions in the back are super helpful. Exams are based on his lectures and they're pretty easy if you can do the homework. He is a bit standoffish but an excellent lecturer.

The tests are the only thing the grade is made up of and he doesnt do a great job of explaining NMR. Loves the subject but the lectures move really fast sometimes. He explains substitution chemistry well though.

Gives you everything you need to ace his exams during lectures. Explains everything in detail so that you wont need to ask questions. Gives practice exams that are just like the real exams. Get book and solution manual. There are mixed opinions about him because he is too busy making love to his chemistry to turn around and answer questions.

Overall great professor. He gives you all the information you need to succeed. Get the book and solution manual, and STUDY the suggest and online HW along with the practice exam; I guarantee you it will help on the exam! Don't let bad students scare you about this professor. He grades fairly and teaches well. Put in the work and you will get an A!

He knows the material very well and does explain clearly when he is teaching. He makes very interesting real world connections, and you can tell he is very passionate about this subject. Now, surprise surprise, its organic chemistry, you WILL have to read every chapter. This is how you learn, he is only there to simplify and clarify the material.

He is awful. The tests and notes do not relate at all. Even when he puts the study guides online, he goes over them, but the study guide doesn't relate to the test! He knows a lot about organic chem, but just doesn't know how to explain at all! He curved the class and I wasn't suppose to pass this class at all. Sadly he's the only organic chem prof

Regardless of what anyone may say about this professor, he has been there and done that. He will give real life examples from any discipline with great confidence and has made many accomplishments at NIU as well as lead many students to great careers. I was glad to have had Dr. Klumpp as a graduate student.

He gives miss information. His tests have much more difficult information than was taught in both the class and the book. He goes off on tangents and then tells you not to worry about any of that information, frequently taking up half of the class time. He also doesn't respond to e-mails in their entirety.

This is a very hard class. Hagen makes it less painful to go through. He is so nice and helpful! there is a huge curve. He will answer any questions and try to make it so you are not just memorizing everything. He also knows a lot and is well prepared and cares about teaching.

Good Professor. He is very knowledgeable and gives many examples. Sometimes seems a bit unorganized and lost in his notes but works through it. Only downfall is that he will give you very very basic examples and then put one or two very complex reactions on exams worth 10-18 pts each. Positive: HUGE CURVE. 50% can get you a B in this course.
