If you have the chance to have Doctor Oyen as a professor, DO IT. He was my very first Econ professor and ever since I have been passionate about Econ because of the way he approaches Econ. He is truly there to help you succeed and is very helpful when you go to office hours. Key to why he is wonderful, the book really isn't necessary.

Lectures everyday - very long! He's passionate about Econ, but very boring when he talks. You will take a quiz every week in this class. He gives what is going to be on the quizzes and tests in advance, use that to your advantage. Do all the problems he hands out in class.

Dr. Oyen is an awesome guy. He very obviously knows and loves economics and is eager to help students understand economics as well. He uses a lot of examples to help with understanding and he makes it clear what he wants you to learn. His power points are very easy to takes notes on, so getting down information is not a problem.

Dr. Oyen is a great professor. He was my first class in college and really set the bar high. Great class. Great teaching. Really easy to talk to. Helps you if you stay after class or go to his office hours. Attendance is required. You do need to study to go well in the class. There's a quiz every Thursday.

TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!! best econ prof by far. you will actually learn something useful in this class! he does teach off of powerpoints, so just take notes from those and you will be fine. no need for a text book. (for the most part)

Extremely clear explanations. Uses powerpoint so it is very easy to tak notes. Quizes and tests aren't too easy but once you see your mistakes you realize that you did know it, so it had all been covered. I strongly recomend him. He is always willing to help. Take him and you will not regret it!!!!

Very good teacher. The class is clearly taught and he gives great notes (off the power point). The quizzes are like exams, so don't be surprised (they cover as much) and the testing assumes you have a lot of stuff blindly memorized. I thought it was a bad reflection of your actual knowledge, because it is easy to forget a silly detail. Tough class.

he's very straitforward about what kind of things will be on the test, and he offers his help often. review sessions for the test are very helpful as well. easy to follow powerpoints. i didn't do too well in the class, but it's a subject that's hard for me to understand, and i didn't take advantage of the office hours.

Oyen's class is sort of boring, but his class is really quite easy. He gives you everything you need to know for the tests and quizess right off of his power point. Do the practice problems he hands out, they are exactly like what is on his exams. He is a very helpful guy, go talk to him if you have any problems. Boring topic, great teacher.

For his class we only had to do 2 homework assignments. We don't really need to read the book because he tests us on what he teaches in class. We get to drop 1 out of the 4 quizzes. He gives good review sheets out before tests and goes to the study groups. I had to study a lot to do well on the tests. I'm going to get him for next sem. for ECON104.
