Comment:

A lot of assigned reading for a class titled "Children's Literature". You have to read the assigned stuff too, as there are reading quizzes each class. He grades tough on journal entries that are based off pictures books (sounds quirky, right). However, you will get a good grade if you put in effort on assignments and discussions.

Dr. Malone has always been very thorough answering my questions. He has even met with me outside of class to help. He does a thorough job explaining and clarifying material. His classes can be lengthy, but he really does care about the subject, and I believe he tries to do a good job as an instructor, and for me that goes a long way.

Once you get to know him, he can be a great professor to have. He is very stringent in terms of expectations of the course. If writing is not your strong suit, you WILL have a hard time with him in class. He gives you a boatload of work. Lastly, he does do his best for students to succeed, but getting help from him can be a challenge.

Dr. Malone cares about the subject matter. He wants his students to understand and care about it too. There is a lot of work, but he is understanding if you need help or extra time. Don't take advantage of him, because he is truly a nice guy. I recommend paying attention in class. He knows if you are not, and will give you a low participation grade

Takes a boring subject and makes it interesting. Great in-class discussions. Smart guy. Many readings, simple quizzes, and three essays throughout semester. Easy to contact and get help from. Glad I took the course, and I'd recommend him for any subject, as long as you're willing to read and put forth some effort.

Hated his class. Everyone was bored out of their minds, but he was somehow thrilled about the material. Usually, this is a good thing (for a teacher to be excited about the material). In this case, no. He's a very by-the-book guy and an all-around stickler.
