Dr. Schmidt is the most inspiring professor out there. History or non-history major, she is worth taking! Loved every second of her class. Hard work on the few papers, but it pays off in how interesting both she and the class material have been.

One of the nicest professors on campus; so sweet and so excited by history that it makes learning fun. A lot of readings assigned but most are short and interesting. A few papers, graded fairly; go to her office a few days before the paper is assigned and she'll offer great advice

Comment:

Best history teacher at Loyola without a doubt. Took her for 4 classes and didn't regret it. Not necessarily easy for those who didn't get involved, but made the material quite palatable. Would highly recommend.

I have had Professor Schmidt for multiple courses. She is a revered scholar but in class you wouldn't know it. Consistently awful. She brings in nothing outside of the textbook reading. Little encouragement or motivation to do the reading. I have not retained anything; my classes with her feel like a waste. Would NOT recommend.

amazing professor, so long as you keep up with the readings you'll be fine. make sure to participate in class. if you have the opportunity to take one of her classes- take it! literally one of loyola's most amazing professors.

Best teacher at Loyola, period. Took her 4 different times and all of her classes were extremely interesting. Exceptionally kind woman and always came out to the soccer games when she could, bringing her kid as well. My favorite teacher at Loyola. Can't go wrong with her.

Dr. Schmidt is not only one of the most genuinely nice human beings you will ever meet, she also is brilliant and so extremely helpful and clear in her presentation. The three classes I took with her were three of the best I had at Loyola.

Extremely nice and funny. Wouldn't hurt a fly and always incorporates personal details into class topic so students can also relate to material. Very passionate about topic and its nice to actually have a prof teaching stuff she's experienced herself.

I hate this class. You're readings are incrediably one-sided. Class questions are loaded. Dreamy-eyed over communism, Cuba, & Africa. Swears the govt, is hiding the 'truth'. She is nice, but her ideas and class are hard to stomach.
