Dr. Mitacek is an intelligent, kind, compassionate professor. He has a true passion for chemistry and does his best to make the course interesting. He clearly wants the best for his students and aims for their success. If you take the time to get to know him and let him get to know you, your experience in his class will be much more enjoyable.

He teaches very well and he expects you to study his material. Therefore the test are somewhat hard. He gives several extra credit options. He's enthusiastic in a funny way. His lectures are usually very good and informative. So don't miss a class or you'll be lost.

Worst lab professor here at NYIT. DON'T take him. He speaks for hours on end before lab and expects you to attend no matter what. Also, he says all the time "I'm preparing you for mcats" but what about those not taking mcats? Just ignorant, rude and slow. Expect to stay the whole class time with this professor. Go back to the 1700s where you belong

Dr. Mitacek is amazing for Orgo. Just show up to class, take notes, do the HW and you are good. His exams are based on his notes and HW. If you don't do this, you will be in danger. He will give you a +5 on your overall average if you're attendance is great and hand in the HW. So DO THIS, it will help alot. I hope he feels better and returns asap

Animated and informative. Expect to hear him lecture about nothing to little to do with organic chem for at least 30 minutes per lecture. Recognize trends of reactivity (tertiary carbon) and be fearless in approaching problems differently. Do not ask for a multiple choice format for any of the exams, or you will be sorry. Recommended for chemistry

Personally had a terrible experience with him. Don't take his spring biochem class its terrible. However he does know his material and if he likes you is willing to help. Make sure to get on his good side; come to class and sit in the front.

Without a doubt, He is the teacher to take for Orgo (1- 2) and Biochem at NYIT. His exams are not easy but are not impossible either. Read the txtbook, do the homework, take notes, Review and Practice! Do NOT miss class or be late. Guarantee You will get higher than a B if not an A! He will prepare you for mcats!

Dr. Mitacek is a really good professor. His exams are hard but only if you don't study. If you miss any class you will be left behind. Textbook is useful to do the homework and he gets some of his test questions from there. Know his notes, study his notes inside out and pracitce the problems over and over and you will do great.!

Before this class, many people told me that getting an A would be impossible. Not true! Professor Mitacek teaches well and the material will stay with you and help you through medical school. A lot of hard work is required but the professor is helpful and is willing to guide you. Professor Mitacek really knows his stuff inside and out!

I learned a lot from taking the biochemistry class. It's a tough class, but you can def do well. You need to put in a lot of effort. It's important to pay attention in class, read the textbook pages that correlate with his notes, and understand the material. it won't just help to memorize facts. I learned a lot from taking this class. Taking Organic I and II def helped. Its important that you pay attention in class, take good notes, as well as go over sections of the textbook covered in class. Biochemistry with Dr. Mitacek was a great academic experience. I believe one of the most important contributing factors to this point was the fact that I had taken Chemistry I & II and Organic Chemistry I & II prior to biochemistry. Successes and knowledge in these classes is pivotal to understanding concepts clearly in biochemistry.

Dr.Mitacek's knowledge allows students to apply biochemical principles in a new way. This class is challenging, but is worth the challenge. Thanks to Dr. Mitacek's Orgo 1 & 2 classes, I got a 12 on the Bio.Sci. portion of the MCAT, 34 overall. That got me into my 1st choice MD school! He pushes you to study & really LEARN the material. Demystified Organic Chem for me, and made it actually interesting! One of the best professors I've ever had. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ASPIRING DOCTORS!
