Professor is now teaching at mills college I am sad to say. She is the worste writing coach I have ever experienced. She is arrogant, self absorbed, and doesn't care about furthering your craft. She used to live in a convent and should have stayed there

WORST writing prof I've had. Demeaning and very obviously politically biased. I did well, but only because I fed her what she wanted to see. If you want a writing professor with an open mind, avoid Faith. I felt like she is only teaching to pay the bills until she gets her big break. Doesn't seem to care.

Comment:

Best writing professor yet. Incredibly approachable and responds very quickly to emails. Comments and feedback were always helpful and constructive. Not an easy grader, but writing professors shouldn't be.

If you take the course seriously, Prof. Adiele will treat you like an equal. If you put time and thought into your writing, she will put time and thought into commenting on it. If you expect to have your ego stroked or coddled--take a different professor's class.

Prof. Adiele is interested in helping students learn and grow. Students who are interested in getting a rubber-stamped grade to show their indulgent parents will probably not enjoy the work, but anyone who is seriously interested about being a good writer and thoughtful person will do well.

What can I say about Faith Adiele? As a professor she is unduly arrogant and hard to talk to. Her syllabus for our class consisted of a full page on how to address her in e-mails. If you do not follow those rules exactly, she will delete it immediately. Somewhere along the way Prof. Adiele lost sight of what she was supposed to do: Teach!

Much of the criticism here is accurate. She is alienating and borders on cruel at times. To her credit, she is a good reader of your work if you are interested in a multicultural literary approach. But the way she runs a class is disorganized, uncertain, unpleasant and overall not worth suffering. She is totally unclear about expectations.

I had this Prof. at FSC as well and did **NOT** have a good experience with her at all. I got As and A+s in her classes, but I also found her to be exploitative, manipulative, and generally very poor at understanding and/or respecting students' boundaries. Bitter, resentful, passive-aggressive and unprofessional.

Also, she gave us a full month off to write our papers, which I didn't appreciate because Senior Seminar is the most important course in the writing major. If there ever was a class I'd want to attend regularly, this one would be it...

Whoever wrote "works you like a dog" is right. Like a dog she wishes she didn't have. I had her for NonFiction 2 and she would leave classes early (but we couldn't), impress her political views on all of us non-stop, and just generally make it a confrontational situation from day one. I have no idea why she became a teacher, she seems to hate it

True that the class is not easy. The prof is a very successful writer which makes her kinda busy, but at least you get to learn from someone who is actually writing and publishing. Don't take this class if you don't care to be challeneged or grow as a writer.

Am not a writing major, but i learned alot in the class. Be prepared to work, but she grades fair if you do the work. Knows her stuff.
