Great professor. Tries her best to help students and gives fantastic feedback. A lot of work but manageable. Do revisions on papers and you will be fine. Cares a lot about students and wants them to be engaged. The best english professor I ever had, such an inspiration! Would take again.

Comment:

Intelligent, objective and values opinions from a disparate group of students. Gives a ton of assignments and readings. I took her 8 am class but never slept before 3 am the earlier night. However, I enjoyed her as her clear feedbacks, her knowledge and a willingness to help made me enjoy working hard for her assignments. One of the best.

A very sweet woman! I don't think I've met anyone as nice and sincere as she is. Very helpful in and out of class. There is a lot of work but she gives you many opportunities to revise for a better grade. Don't be late, she really doesn't like that. The material is very boring but as long as you try you should get a B.

She's a great professor but gives a ton of work. She really helps you with your papers and truly cares about her students. Even though there's a lot of work, at the end of the semester you will have actually learned something from her class.

Do not take this teacher. Unrealistic amount of work all due one after another, extra meetings and work on top of 45 hours of field work observations. Unclear assignments, she is also extremely annoying. Avoid at all costs, you will not learn anything new about education.

Dr. Skrobe will take attendance and assign a fair amount of homework. Show up, participate in discussions, and show her that you are trying and you will be fine. You do need to buy the books she assigns but overall not to bad.

I would not recommend her unless you like to write a lot of papers. They are usually 5 pages long and due every few weeks on topics that bore you to death meanwhile you are also reading a novel and writing a paper on that. It's a lot of work for a 100 level class and I would not recommend or take unless you really need to.

Nice lady, but R&W was a huge waste of time for anyone who was a math or science major. It shouldn't have to be required for these content areas, because we're never going to teach middle school grammar. Insane amount of work for this course, and LOTS of paperwork. Can't advise for or against taking her, cuz there isn't much of a choice anyway.

This was the writing course that you have to take if you are in the teacher program. It's a tough course. Better be prepared to know how to write before you take this class. Take it as your last course if you are not ready. Warning, its tough. Hope this helps.

Excellent teacher! She is passionate about her work and a very dedicated teacher. Typically sent out emails the night before class with reading or HW assignment which was annoying, but besides that, I learned a LOT from her. She is a tough grader, but she is fair and allows re-writes of practically everything you hand in. Really enjoyed class.

she makes you buy several hundred dollars worth of textbooks you hardly use. Very disorganized. Insane amount of work expected. This class made me miserable. If not for tutoring the students, which i loved, i wouldn't have made it.

taking a class with her just isnt worth it unless your a lit major. always lets you out late, gives ridiculous assignments, talks to you as if you were a child. never ever take her unless you have to and even then I am sure you can find a way out of it

Omg! Where do I start..... She is a very nice lady and caring, but Omg she is a very tough grader and contradicts herself all the time. Gives a lot of useful information and the textbooks are helpful. She rushed through the second half of the semester and included stuff on the final that we never went over. 2 papers and experiential learning.

She cares about improving her students' writing, but does little to teach them about how to tutor in writing, which is the main focus of the class. She expects a very large amount of work for her class, but it whip your writing skills into shape as a result. Only take her if you can dedicate enough time to write 3 assignments per week!
