This is my 2nd course with Prof. Robinson and I am excited for my next one. His courses drive you to learn in-depth profiles of Latin American countries and historical themes. He is really is the heart of my Latin Am. history major concentration, as he does justice to the region by representing its history well. Vanderbilt is better for having him.

Super nice prof, easy class, lectures are just long and dry. Midterm and final are in-class essays, plus one research paper on a topic of your choice. Super chill and good to learn about the broad themes shaping Central America.

Prof. Robinson has vast knowledge of Latin America and he's an expert on the history of the countries that he's done archival work and research in. His class is lecture-based by nature and may be a bore for somebody who's not interested in Latin American history, but I thought the class was excellent and I'm really glad I took it with him.

Robinson is really passionate about the material and gives out the prompts ahead of time. He's a very fair grader, but the material may be tough to sit through if you're not interested in the subject since the class is 100% lecture. Though he posts the powerpoints, attendance matters and it's in your best interest to take detailed notes.

Robinson is an awesome lecturer and gives out essay prompts on the tests about a week before them and the only grades come from 3 tests and a final paper. Class is interesting, but focuses more on Spain than Latin America. Robinson is extensively literate on the subject and really loves teaching about it. Take it if you're interested in Spain

Long lectures, lots of reading and note-taking. Nevertheless, interesting class and a great professor. He clearly loves his subject and sharing it with students, and he's a fantastic lecturer, helpful in office hours, and basically gives you the essay questions before the exam. Not an easy A, but if you prepare responsibly a good grade is doable.

None of the readings are necessary except maybe the mini-novella on the History of Brazil. Class is extremely enjoyable and he makes it a cake walk. Essay questions for exam told in advance and are easy ..interesting guest lecturers, but sometimes I wish he would just lecture since he was just so dam good. I am now minoring in LAS because of him.

I took this class to fulfill axel and it was pretty good. I agree that if this is not your thing it can be a little dull, but isn't that true of all history classes? He tells you EXACTLY what the essay questions on the test will be; prepare well and its an easy A. He is very easy to talk to and will also read your paper drafts. Overall a great class

A tough class. The lectures can be boring, but you learn a lot from the class. He is very interested in the subject matter, but I wouldn't recommend the class unless you're interested in the subject. 2 papers, a midterm, and a final. Not a very easy grader.

Professor Robinson is amazing. He really knows his stuff. Tends to show up to class a little late. He tells you what is going to be on the exams. Definitely take any class he teaches. You will actually learn something instead of just memorizing and forgetting. Weird right?

Brilliant lecturer who really knows and cares about his material, making class enjoyable. Will tell you what you need to know for essays on tests. You have to do the readings and be prepared to write everything on tests, but if you put in the work you can get an A. Would highly recommend it to anyone for AXLE or major/minor credit.

He is SUCH an amazing teacher. He's so passionate and really cares about his students. This semester, he took the class to hear the former president of Chile speak at Blair! It's easy to do well because he tells you what he expects. He makes the subject interesting because he loves it so much! Definitely take this class and anything else he teaches

This class is extremely interesting. There are guest lecturers 3 out of 4 classes. Two papers, two tests (final and midterm. Lets you know exactly what you need to know for the tests. Also, when he lectures, it is extremely interesting. Great class overall and not too difficult. Good liberal education class.

He's great! His class took a really complex look at the intricacies of the subject matter clearly and completely. He lets you know what to expect on exams. The papers are pretty short (3-5 pages). It seems like he wants his students to be interested and successful.
