Gabriela is one of the most helpful and understanding profs I have had at York. I went from hating syntax to it becoming my favourite subject because of her. The material can be tough, but Gabriela is always there to meet with you and help out with whatever you're having trouble with.

She's amazing. You can call her the Master of syntax. Although everyone who took syntax courses know how hard the subject is, with Gabriela, it is very accessible. Her handouts are so helpful. Approach her any time, and rest assured that she's always there for you. She is by all standards a role model for all other teachers to follow.

For syntax, you want her as your professor. Oddly, some people find her intimidating, but she's incredibly nice and helpful so don't hesitate to ask her anything! When marking, she expects a lot, but is extremely fair. If you provide a solid (though slightly misguided) argument, it will not go unnoticed... just back up your claims for everything!

She is the best prof in the department. She made the fear of 4th year syntax disappear because she truly works with students and not against them. The grade breakdowns were perfect and she really is the best.

Even though the material is abstract and bring, Gabriela does her best to get the concepts across. She works really hard at trying to make sure everyone understands and shes really good at going at the class' pace. her tests are hard but shes the best prof in the dept.

Gabriella is very knowledgeable, uses lots of handouts and can explain them well. However, uses concepts without considering abilities of class. Don't bother to buy textbook(s), she hardly uses. Tests and assignments are fair, however TA is a terrible, horrible marker! I had to fight for every mark.

Very informative. Teaches syntax with passion. Read text before going to class, otherwise you'll have no clue of what she's up to. Cares about her students very much. Lecture a bit boring, or VERY boring if you dunno the stuff. Get to know this prof personally you'll find she's a very nice person.

She obviously knows what she's talking about with syntax and she's very smart, but she is so hard to follow in class. She explains and explains but I'm never really sure where she's made her point. On the other hand she's fantastic one on one.

I hate this class! I enjoyed linguistics before but this class or rather the professor made me drop a minor in linguistics. She makes simple things so complicated. I'm so confused during her lectures. I feel like I don't understand anything. I'm completely lost. She doesn't know how to teach!!!

This teachers knows her stuff, but cant expend her knowledge to her students. Her handouts are not understandable!! To get a good mark your need to put 90% of your time trying to fingure out her handouts, her lectures, and how they relate to the book!
