Comment:

He's a nice guy but sometimes it gets awkward. The class is very discussion based and there is often that awkward silence when no one is participating. There is a lot of reading (as with any IH class) for homework, 3 exams, and a few mini projects that aren't too bad. You definitely need to put effort in his class

If you do not like writing papers TAKE HIM! Instead of fo essays, there are several mini-projects to work on. Class is boring, like all IH classes but he tries to make it fun. He also provides texts that you need for the class. He's really nice and obviously cares about his students.

You get a lot of grades based on participation and seminar skills which means you have to write discussion posts on the topics in the units. Pratt really means well and is very helpful to each and every student. Not a lot of work and he is very flexible, highly recommend.

Dr. Pratt is very big on participation and if your not a big participator then he thinks you do not care. He bases your grades on how much he likes you. I would not take this course again with him.

Doctor Pratt was a great professor but group discussions were super awkward. He did not give any papers, but there were weekly blog posts. Overall, great class though!

Loved taking Prof. Pratt, if you're like me and like in class discussions where your opinion and analysis matters then this is the teacher for you. Super cool, quirky, and open minded. definitely would take him again.

Seriously a really chill guy. He's a bit goofy and I love it because it made coming to an 8 am much easier. He only got mad at a student one time when he specifically asked we not be late for that class. Just read what you're supposed to, come to class, and do the work. It's really simple. No big papers for our class, just simple blogs every week.

100% would not take him again. Get ready for emails every day of the week, and yes that includes Saturdays and Sundays. Blog posts due at the end of every week. Also, exams are dumb, he asks who said what in the texts we read in each section. I don't know about you but I do not have a photographic memory.

Comment:

Dr. Pratt is a really nice guy and truly wants his students to do well. Reading and blog posting are required each week which isn't that much. There are 3 tests, the second which is a class test. Know specific character quotes from the book because those are easy questions to get correct. My grades were 80, 93, 98 and 96 on the final portfolio.

Gary is a genuinely nice guy who cares about his students. He made really difficult concepts easier to understand and explained things well. However, his tests have really weird content and he makes you read at least 30 pages a night. He also makes people participate in discussions by calling on them and forcing them to add a comment.

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Pratt!!! IH I with him is a fairly easy class. Just read and try to pay attention in class, which isn't hard to do with him. The only homework assignments are weekly blog posts which can all be completed in around 30 mins. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

He gives you way more work than should be required. For example, we have homework assigned, an exam this coming week, and a paper on the most obscure topics due all at the same time. I honestly would not recommend him as a professor not just for this reason. He is flexible at all, and he has a bizarre teaching style. Would not recommend :)

the entire class is discussion based off the texts, although you dont actually ever have to read anything he has 3 exams which are all based on the text. its not a hard class but way more effort for mosaics than it should be. Gary himself is a bit of a weirdo and makes bad jokes. just really has a annoying teaching style

Was my Mosaics 2 professor & he's awesome! He's goofy, but understanding. HW is always a weekly blog post on Blackboard, with the occasional paper here and there, but nothing that requires additional research. Has a habit of spending a LOT of time on specific topic or book, so expect to feel that things are either going too slow or too quickly.

I LOVE this teacher!! He is such a fun guy that is willing to say anything on his mind. His class discussions are so much fun and entertaining. I had him for Mosaics 1 at 9:00AM and I enjoyed going to class! Don't want this semester to end because of this awesome guy!!! Genuinely cares. Favorite class of the semester.

He is probably one of or may be my favorite professor I've had so far at Temple. Discussions may be confusing but he makes them very interesting. He creates a very comfortable environment so you feel safe saying what you think feel. Keep up on the blog assignments and you should do great.
