Very knowledgeable and very accessible outside of class. She does have high expectations, but if you show her that you're making some kind of effort, she is more than willing to help you, meet with you, talk through papers, etc.

Comment:

Prof. Weisenfeld was very available to students who showed effort and interest. She was helpful and clear in class. It is true that it is somewhat difficult to memorize all the Japanese terms, but she doesn't require that from her students. It was such an eye-opening and interesting class and she is very knowledgable!

She's incredibly smart and knows everything about Japanese architecture. She seemed cold, inaccessible, and difficult on her students. Her expectations were very high. Probably not the best class to take for fulfilling the non-western art history credit. Try African art instead.

Really great teacher, I wasn't too interested in the subject matter from the outset, but she makes the material really interesting. She does require attendance and partipation, lots of reading and films, but it's worth it. Easy grader.

Great class and fun projects. The only difficult part is trying to memorize everything in japanese, but definitely worthwhile. A good way to fufill the non-western art history requirement.

The best intellectual experience I've had at Duke. The material was completely new, it was my quintessential eye opening college expreience. Beware though, there are some risque images.
