ENGR305- tests and quizzes are everything. Both can be unbelievably difficult. Expect to spend up to 10 hours a week outside of class. Grading can seem inconsistent and confusing. CEMS237- Tests + (Hw is small part.) Grades hws lightly, mainly for effort. Tests are often on things very unexpected and not in practice tests. Makes test difficult af

Comment:

Giesche is an awful professor for engineering statistics. I ended up with a C in the class because of the tutor. The class content is dull and hardly explains information needed for the quizzes and tests. Giesche had one hour available for office hours every week, and was no help outside of class. Make sure you get a tutor for the class.

Comment:

Professor Giesche is a pretty nice guy, but his teaching methods are questionable at best. Statistics is not a difficult course but somehow he makes it so challenging by only giving you quizzes and tests to be graded on and nothing else. The lectures often skip over many details in the quizzes and the tests. avoid this professor for all classes.

Comment:

If you don't go to class and take good notes you will have no clue what's going on or how to do any of the quiz/test questions. Reading the textbook can help you understand the concepts better. The class isn't awfully hard and he grades with a lot of partial credit. If you put in the work you will make it through fine.

nobody in the class is passing. nobody understands what is going on. should be an easy class but he somehow is making it impossible. DO NOT TAKE ENGR305 WITH GIESCHE

he semester I took with him started with 9 of us in the class. Not counting myself, there were 3 students left in the class at the end of the semester. I stopped going the last 3 weeks after running a grade calculation and realizing I needed a 94 on the final to pass. Only class I've failed, ever. Praying another professor teaches the course.

Dr. Giesche is a tough grader. His accent can make it a little hard to understand his lecture, and since the symbols are different in Germany, he sometimes mixes up the terms. He explains examples, and then expects you to understand the theory, so if you have trouble with statistics, don't take his class.

Comment:

Geische is meant to do research- not teach. He is really smart but only truly believes in things that he's only worked with or seen in real life or the lab. I learned nothing in class and ended up not going towards the end of term. I ended up teaching myself the entire course from the textbook because the overheads didn't do anything.

he is awful. All he does is take figures from books that WE DON'T HAVE and make us buy a book that he doesn't use very often and then he just argues with what he has put on an overhead and says it's not right anyway.
