Comment:

Took online for Spanish 1 and 2. Tons of homework and 1 test every week all online. Spanish 2 is a lot harder but still doable. Definitely makes you work for it. Need to talk to her? Good luck. Doesn't give retakes or makeups.

Comment:

I have taken Pro. Cottrell for SPN 1 and 2. Spanish 2 is much harder and takes more studying. She is very sweet and helpful if you have any concerns. I recommend taking your time with the homework since it is the best way to study for the exams. She grades homework off of completion but like I said, it is very helpful. Do the worksheets too.

This was my first online class. Only 5 tests and 5 homework assignments. Tests are not hard at all and if you just finish the homework you get an A.

5 online homework actives and 5 tests the whole semester. Not a lot of work for a 4 credit class. She's a nice grader, but takes forever if at all to reply back to emails. Also doesn't send a email at the beginning of the week like most online professors do, which isn't a big deal,but you got to stay on top of things if you take this class yourself

Comment:

Professor Cottrell is clear on her expectations and is helpful through out the semester. The lab modules are time consuming but nothing outrageous. Exams are online and a study guide is provided to you so you have a clear understanding of what is on them. I had for her Spanish I and II but her classes fill up fast so keep that in mind.

Cottrell was an awesome instructor. I took her A term summer class just recently, and I was nervous because it was my first online class and Im not too good with Spanish. It was easy and I passed with an A. It was mainly reading a chapter in the Textbook a week (the textbook was necessary and very helpful), then lab modules for HM and a test p/wk.

I didn't contact Professor Cottrell much but she was a good professor. She emails you every week explaining the due dates of upcoming tests and the practice. I noticed that she gives you automatic credit for the practice. I sometimes didnt do it and she would still give me a 100 for it. So if you dont finish it, dont sweat it. Would recommend.

I had Professor Cottrell for Spanish 1 online. My first ever online class and I she made it super do-able. You have 5 modules and that includes 5 exams. I will definitely be taking her for Spanish 2 in the fall! :)

Took online, Easy easy easy class. all you have to do is the homework, which isn't even graded based on answers, is just graded based on completion) and there are 5 exams, which, if you're taking it online shouldn't be an issue. Professor hardly replied to emails, but she grades so easy it wasn't an issue.

Cottrell is an amazing online professor. Everything is clear and the textbook will be your guide for online tests. There is a lot of homework, but it helps. With so much diversity today, take a real interest in learning Spanish because it will be useful in any career!

Very high energy and she gets stressed/worked up easily which is a little stressful. VERY lenient grader - she just wants to see you make an effort. Don't do her worksheets and she'll get pissed. Do the vistas online homework/tutorials, it will teach you what you didn't understand in class; it's really not that bad. Only five chapters of HW to do.

All that she cares about , is that you try. Do your homework, show up to class, and make an effort and you'll be in her good graces. Don't do the worksheets and you'll find yourself on her bad side. She doesn't expect for you to retain everything or become fluent, she just wants an effort made. Very lenient grader, just try!

The worst part of this class was the homework. I think somebodyelse described it as hours of painstaking mess.. So true!!! Thats not the professors fault though. She seemed to be an easy grader and gave us everything we needed to do well. I recommend!!

Really enjoyed this class! Professor is very nice and pretty clear on what she expects of you. There's about 5 hours of homework due each week and you have 48 hours to take the tests (due every Sunday at midnight). Don't procrastinate, study and do the hw! You're taking a foreign language class, of course it's not going to be a cake walk.

Test were reasonable. Class was decent pace. You will learn to read and write Spanish better than speak it, but this class was overall a good one. Prof. Cottrell, was def. did all she could to make sure you passed this class.

GREAT professor! Isabel is amazing! She's super helpful and really does care if you do well in her class and she does her best to make sure that you do. As long as you are in class, on time, and ready to learn she's happy. If you make a serious effort in this class, it'll go quick and easy. Fun class! Also, went on a field trip for food! Awesome!

Dr. Cottrell is amazing. She made learning Spanish extremely easy yet very interesting at the same time. Her tests are a walk in the park and she is a very fair grader. She has a wonderful attitude but has very little tolerance for people who slack off. Just go to class, listen, take notes, and learn.
