Jerry is a strange fellow. His lectures are a bit confusing and his grading system is pretty harsh. Having said that, I couldn't imagine taking this course with anyone else. College is not supposed to be easy. If you miss one of Jerry's classes, you will miss a lot. Go to class every day, pay attention, and ASK QUESTIONS. Do that, you will do fine.

This class is very hard, especially if you don't have a background in geology. No big tests or finals, only open note quizzes! Buy the paper (as opposed to electronic) Lab Manual because you will be doing LOTS of labs. Past reviews claim that Jerry doesn't help, but I beg to differ. He will help people, but you have to take the initiative.

Jerry is the hardest teacher I've ever had, you have labs every class and they're super hard, class is hard, and he grades hard. He is nice, but isn't very helpful. graphs I've never seen before and he doesn't explain them. I had to drop the class 3 weeks before the semester was over, I tried just didn't get anything. Take if you love science.

Don't waste your time taking this class. Disorganized class plan and schedule, don't dare miss a class b/c if he decides to do a lab, you can't make it up, and chances are, you're already failing. Approaches grading with bias, he looks at names. But don't worry he'll tell you to your face, what type of a person he thinks you are-Jerry, you lost me.

I have had Jerry for two classes. I would not take geology with any other instructor. You have come to class, pay attention, do the labs, and study to do well. It is so worth it! You will learn so much! If you are taking his classes to get an "easy" science requirement out of the way, don't waste your time or his. Highly recommend him!

He is a nice guy, and often tells me he believes in me and that Im going to do fine in the course. However, i've told him multiple times I dont understand and it's almost like he refuses to answer your questions.. His grading is inconsistent and unfair. Numerous times I receive test back that only say "you lost me" so frustrating!

Jerry is a fantastic teacher! He is very fair. He is full of interesting facts and is a caring guy. I have had many poor teachers at LCC, but i am happy to report that Jerry is a teacher who actually cares about his students. If you make an effort, he will go the distance for you. If you get the chance, actually talk to him, he is full of wisdom.

Jerry is an amazing teacher. He grades VERY tough though, so be prepared. Be detailed in your answers. The labs are hard, but the quizzes are open book/note. He truly WANTS you to learn. He's quirky an makes the class super fun. I enjoyed coming to class, and loved his stories. Would DEFINITELY take another one of his classes. Be prepared to LEARN

I loved both of Jerry's classes. They are not easy, but one of the best things about Jerry is that he makes you LEARN the material rather than just knowing it well enough to answer multiple choice questions on a test. You have to be able to apply the knowledge. Don't come to this class with a sense of entitlement. Come to learn.

Nice enough guy, very strange, grading is terribly inconsistent!!! Vague, does not provide constructive criticism, assumes that everyone should know some of the complex concepts in geology. Don't like the fact that he looks down on people who don't understand how he presents information. Needs to get a life, set on his wacky ways, arrogant!!!
