Mr. Summerville is an okay teacher. His methods are not really helpful, but he is a really nice guy. If you need help in the class he will be more than willing to help you. Sometimes he does tend to mumble so just ask him to repeat hiself. And be ready to write alot of papers:)

One of the best teachers! Sweet man, but I think too many people take advantage of his kindness. Class can be boring, but normally doesn't last long. Be ready for creative, knowledgable writing! Ask for help if you need it, he is very understanding. I wish I could take his class again, but he doesn't teach the next English I need.

Does not spoon feed us like high schoolers. High but fair standards. Respectful of various opinions. Allows re-do's if you're not happy with your grade. His goal is for the student to LEARN not just regurgitate information.

He is Awful! I dont know why anyone would want to take him. He is very wierd, like creepy wierd! His grading sucks, if you actually spent time on a paper you will no doubt get a bad grade, if you just dont try and throw something together you will get a good grade,sounds easy... till you get in another English! I dont recommend!

He is absolutely wonderful! He really wants his students to succeed and do well. He makes his expectations very clear and is very helpful on assignments. As long as you go to class and pay attention to class discussions, you will do well (and of course always turn in your papers).

very nice man. extremely helpful. not strict at all about proficiency of papers. i slept through my midterm...totally missed it and he let me make it up with no problem. he has a tremor, but it gets better through the semester. i got an A.
