Really enjoyed this class and learned a lot. Professor Ratcliffe is very knowledgable. The class uses videos, podcasts, articles, and lectures which students are quizzed on as they read, watch, and listen to. There are a few discussion boards and two writing projects that involve reading studies. Grading was very fair.

Comment:

Professor Ratcliffe is what you want in an online class teacher. He posts lectures, fill in-the-blank notes, and quizzes that correspond with the lecture every week or so that takes no more than about 1-2 hours to complete. Other than that, there are two short papers and one discussion board post. Sounds like a little, but you learn lots!

Evidence Based Policing had cool guest speakers, readings, and stories from Dr. R. Not too much work except the final paper. Great prof for any CJ major to take but you need a sense of humor. Cancels class kinda regularly. PS don't comment on anything political in his class unless you know he's gonna agree.

Dr. Ratcliffe is a great professor! I wish he taught more than this one class. He really engages the class and has interesting stories. I would highly recommend him, he is easy to look at at his accent makes everything better.

Ratcliffe was by far, my favorite professor ever. I'm not a CJ major and took this class because a friend was taking it and I'm so happy I did. He taught things well and made the material interesting. He's one of the funniest guys I know. The final isn't cumulative and as long as you came to class, you did well on the exams. Best professor ever.

Comment:

One of my favorite professors. Sort of sad that he only teaches the one undergrad class. Very funny. Does talk a lot about himself, but he knows his s***. Plays funny clips in class and is interesting too. Definitely recommend him.

Very interesting and entertaining, an ex-cop from england. 3 MC tests and 1 research paper (5pg). note taking easy-print fill in blank notes before class and fill in at lecture. paper IMPORTANT, enough weight that u fail the class if fail the paper. just review PP notes to study for MC tests, never used textbook. great guy!

Download the notes in advance and bring them to the lectures, and it will be easy and fun to be in class. Tests can be difficult if you dont revise (like me!). He has a good sense of humor, lots of knowledge and a fab style. Hot accent too. Enough said.

I'm not a criminal justice major, so was taking this class becuase it worked in my schedule, but I really got into this and may become a CJ minor now. He teaches really well and is very interesting. The humor helps too. Nice guy.

He did continuously talk about himself and it got old but his lectures are straight forward and funny. Best professor at making class interesting and gives you notes right off the powerpoints. Tests are a bit tricky and the essay was graded extremely hard. Hes pretty strict about the quality of it. All in all, fairly good professor and fairly easy.

I loved this guy and this class. His notes are really easy to follow and his lectures are interesting and funny. Yeah, he does talk about himself a lot, but he has every right to; he's a really accomplished guy. Altogether one of the best professors at Temple.

love ratcliffe as a professor! definately an easy A class. when he teaches class is funn & never dull. just make sure u dont get stuck with taylor as a side professor, he was horrible =[
