Joan is an amazing professor, and SOC 271 is a fantastic class. She fosters in-depth discussion like no other. I'm so glad to have taken this course before she retires. Goucher will not be the same without her.

Joan is great. She's a total hippie throwback and reminds me of my mom. She's very passionate about sociology but has great real life stories about working for the IRS. Her discussions are good and she uses films and documentaries to drive points home.
