Long, dense powerpoints. Fast-paced but class feels SLOW. Extra credit opps: identifying/memorizing song lyrics & campus events. Monthly homework. Required & pricy online workbook. You might not look forward to class, but you'll pass if you study. Office hours anytime; I took many tests at other times for various reasons. He's nice & knows names.

Prof B does teach the majority of the class in french so you may be overwhelmed at first if you're not the best at understanding French. But stick it out because you'll learn what to expect and how to succeed as you go on in the class. The class does cover challenging material but Prof B provides clear guidelines of what he expects from students.

This instructor could do a multitude of things to improve this course. He was uninformative, not helpful in any way, and was one of most lacking in motivation for me to complete coursework and excel within this class. I found that his "teaching" was just rambling and I would not process any of the information that he was presenting. Unclear grading

Dr. Boitano was super sweet! His class was a little dull, but he does his best to be assessable for students and provide lots of opportunity for help, assistance, office hours, etc.

Really tough, difficult material. Expect to have to teach yourself a lot of things because he is not good at english explanations or helping with foundations of concepts or providing examples. The few examples he just reads and clicks through, he moves very fast in class. Also his handwriting is so bad- do not expect to read anything he writes.

Really solid professor. The class is hard, not gonna lie, but that's more because of the material. He really takes his time to make sure you understand everything, but if you get it early that can make the class a little boring at times. But he has really fun examples and in class activities, and extra credit on all the tests which are easy points

French Poetry is a relaxing time on Tuesdays, when I have 5 classes and Thursdays, when I have 3. The guy really loves French poetry, history, and always finds a way to talk about his favorite operas. He is not good with technology so he always makes his students laugh when he crosses his fingers and says "J'espere que ca va marcher".

Dr. Boitano is one of my favorite professors. Business French is a very interesting class, there is lots of speaking and not too much homework. I would take it again and would recommend it to others. He does what he can to avoid students spending money, so no textbook. He is super helpful and very nice.

Dr. Boitano is a really good professor. He is very helpful during office hours and is really nice. FREN 201 had a lot of difficult material but he made it easy to understand with his powerpoint lectures which were available on Blackboard. His study guides for the exams were amazing and so thorough with lots of exercises to practice the material.

Boitano is a great professor! I would recommend him for people that are looking to learn French and put some work into it. He is an easy grader; he also has great study guides that help a lot! In the begging he might scare you, but donĂ¢€™t worry he is very straight forward!

Honestly, Prof. B's 201 class maybe difficult but I've learned more French in the last 2 months than I have in any of my French classes combined. He only speaks French in the class and really pushes you which makes it tough, but very worth it. If you actually want to learn to speak, understand, read and write French I would recommend his class. If you're just trying to cross off a GE, don't do it. Also, his handwriting is frustratingly bad.

Comment:
Ridiculously difficult. I had very little background with French (only taken the prereq's). He does not review past concepts at all. Speaks the entire period in French, which is obnoxious for a 200 level class. Doesn't really provide outside help. Oh, and his handwriting is atrocious so don't plan on reading anything he writes on the board.

Relatively easy class (Business French), but you don't learn anything really. Repetitive and pretty boring. Super nice professor and he's an easy grader as well. Take him for easy credit but it's hard to get the motivation to learn in his class

Boitano is the type of professor that can teach you if you want to learn. Boitano is laid back and lets people speak English in upper level French classes, and the assignments are sort of nebulous, but he is an enthusiastic, brilliant professor with a passion for French. Don't take any class of his just for credit, take him if you want to learn.

Very easy professor. Just do well on exams! It's one page of grammar and then an essay in French. Just make sure your grammar in your essay is good and you'll do fine. Class is pretty boring, but it's recommended to go to class as much as possible. I had prior experience with French, so it was super easy for me!
