Comment:

I took the 20th Century Pop Music class. The class is super interesting and I learned a lot. You don't really need to take notes as long as you pay attention. Grades are based on written assignments about movies/ music videos. If you put some effort into the assignments and explain your ideas, it's easy to do well.

I forgot to staple my paper in his class so he took points off and stapled it in the middle. Very dry and not friendly. Boring class.

Comment:

It was easy and he gives extra credit for every test. All you need to do is take notes and memorize 20 songs a section. Each test is half online and half listening in class. It's just he teaches in such a monotone and boring way that it is hard to get into the material. But he seems to really care. Also, you don't need the textbook at all.

Really easy A. Attendance is taken by kahoot, 4 tests and extra credit. Lectures are very boring, treat it like a study hall.

Great professor who actually cared when the whole class didn't. Relatively boring class by itself bit it's an easy A and he tries to keep it interesting.

Easiest class I have taken in college. Test day is split between 2 parts, listening portion in class and online test any time that day before 11:59. He is quite boring, but he shreds on the piano for half of class. Attendance is a kahoot code. Highly recommend - only grades are the tests and some bonus opportunities

Dr. Valerio is a professor that has an abundance of musical knowledge and skill, but unfortunately does not make class very interesting. He speaks in monotone and it is very easy to get distracted or fall asleep during class. Attendance is taken by Kahoot, tests are online, and extra credit opportunities are available. Textbook is not needed.

Such an easy class. The tests are online and the listening portion of the tests are not too bad if you study before. He uses Kahoot to take attendance but he doesn't even take it every class.

Easiest class of my life. No textbook needed, just add on some information to the online notes. Half of the test is online and the other half is just listening and identifying the music. Extra credit for every test. I did calculus homework every day in class and got an A.

Made me absolutely hate Jazz. Test heavy. Boring lectures. Does not care about students. Listening tests suck. Bad content. Attendance is mandatory and trust me you won't want to go. Ruined my love for Jazz. Also it's a far walk from everything. Don't recommend taking in the hot summer. Just don't take it period. With this remember C's get degrees.

John clearly loves jazz but unfortunately you have to be a jazz lover too to find his lectures interesting. The most fun part was the last two days where we learned about The Beatles, etc. You have to stay through the whole class for credit but can be literally watching Netflix because the notes and tests are online except for the listening test.

Dr. Valerio basically talks to the back wall. He doesn't care if you pay attention but you have to show up or he will drop your grade because if attendance. You can seriously watch movies in class and he doesn't care. Tests are online and easy. If you need an AIU credit this is a great way to get an easy A. YOU DON'T NEED THE TEXTBOOK!

I learned a lot in this course. Yeah, the class is a little dry, but Valerio knows the subject very well and is willing to help. Sometimes he plays piano, which I enjoyed a lot; he is very talented. Plenty of extra credit opportunities.

Dr. Valerio is very well-versed in the subject but the class is very boring for most of the semester as the early time periods aren't interesting. He is very monotone but really cares about the subject. Everyone just sits on their laptops during lectures and you are graded by out of class assignments. The assignments take awhile but its an easy A.

Speaks in a monotone voice that will make you want to fall asleep. Only assigns papers based on movie musicals or music. He posts notes that you can use to help with the papers. Mostly opinion based and you can submit early so he can critique and you can fix it. Agree with him and you'll get an A. Bring computer to class!!

This guy is not only the most boring professor I have ever had, but the content sucks too. He goes to class to collect his pay check and talk to the wall. No one listens. I would rather watch ants roam around my backyard than take another class taught by this man. I treated this course like a study hall along with the 100 other kids in the class.

Very easy A. class is made up of 4 online section tests and 4 listening tests which are all very easy and there is optional extra credit for each test. Attendance is mandatory but you can literally sit in class and watch netflix and he wouldn't care. He says you need the textbook but you dont.

I love jazz so taking this class was really fun. If you show up and take notes in class, the tests are easy. They are also online so even better. Listening portion is also easy if you just listen to the music beforehand. He really loves Jazz so if you do too this will be a really fun class for you. Gives extra credit but I didn't need it.

Comment:

You can tell that he is interested in what he teaches and he knows his stuff as well. The class itself was quite easy and honestly fun to attend. As long as you take decent notes, you should get an A on every test. If you still can't manage to pull an A, he offers up to an entire letter grade worth of extra credit. Professor Valerio is amazing!
