He is a really nice guy and a good math teacher overall. He talks kinda soft and dosn't give a lot of examples, but his tests are fair and usually really short- with all the questions strait from the homework. Sometimes he is hard to understand, and he says "Naturally" a lot, but his class was a good experience overall

He's a nice guy, but expects you to learn by watching him do problems. He teaches the board, barely tuns around, and won't call on students to fix mistakes in his work (frequent). Has a thick accent and gets english confused sometimes. Grade based entirely on tests (hard) and quizzes (easy), optional homework. If math isn't your thing don't get him

I hate proofs. But Tsai made it bearable. His tests are straight out of the homework and and have all been gone over in class. Very straight forward. I got an A. which i never thought was possible. Recommend him

Teaches calculus as though you you already know it. He never makes an effort to get know his students despite being a kind, warmhearted individual. His tests/quizzes fluctuate a lot. Sometimes they're really easy, sometimes they're really hard. Same with his grading. If you struggle with theory based teaching, don't take Dr. Tsai. Curve IS nice.

Explains things well enough and he's always willing to answer questions. It's almost impossible to fail this class the way he grades. His teaching comes right out of the book so if you read it and do the homework you should be fine. He's also a very nice man, if you talk to him and work with him the class is really easy.

he is by far the best math professor i've ever had. im a math major and he explained things very well. he was the most straightforward and simple professor i've had ever. he's very clear and nice. he also has a good sense of humor :). i love this guy and hope to see him again in another class soon!

Class was pretty hard, but it's caclulus and it wasn't meant to be easy. Grades based on quizzes and tests. Both are all do-the-problem types with no multiple choice. Do the homework, it really helps. Overall a really sweet guy, will usually let you out early because it's such a long class.

While Tsai earnestly tries to teach you the material, he fumbles through examples, makes numerous errors on the board, and fails to truly EXPLAIN the math you'll be tested on. Some test questions are directly from the homework, but the HIGHLY necessary curve should give you a good indication of his shortcomings.

he was a very confusing teacher because he was hard to understand an he never actually gave notes, just read the examples from the book. the class is easy if you've taken calc before or get help from someone who had him for calc the previous year because just about by the end of semester you begin to catch on to his teaching style.

he was too hard. he didnt care that people didnt understand math at his pace...he just taught and if you got it, then great, if not, then you were screwed. grades based on just quizzes and tests...the pressure was always on. hes a nice guy himself...he just doesnt get that not everybody gets the math that well.

Take it with him. Tests and quizes are homework problems that he assigns. Just study those and you will ace his tests. Plus he is really nice and easy to understand.

I found him very easy to understand, both accent wise and teaching wise. He always askes if there were any questions on the homework and will go over them fully with the class. His tests and quizzes are not cummulative, but can be tricky sometimes. Looking over hw problems before a test helps. He is a very nice man.

good man. quizzes are a breeze, i can't say the same for tests though. although, if you do the assignments you're going to do well on tests as the problems come straight from them. classes are short and to-the-point. final is not cumulative.
