If I could, I would rate this prof a 0. He is the worst professor I have ever had the misfortune of taking. My junior year, all the classes I took left me no choice but to take his section of MA 114. If you have a choice whether to take him or someone else, TAKE ANOTHER SECTION. I taught everything to myself with kahn academy.

His lectures are very boring and he makes many mistakes so it is difficult to get the correct information. There is no graded homework. We were not given the option to not have quizzes so we had a quiz every day. Don't worry though because if you put anything in either question you automatically get a 3/10. Prepare for many 3/10's.

Avoid Kubota like the plague. I had to drop the class due to his poor teaching Students pick if they want quizes, when exams are, and can ask for hwk extensions. Sounds good but he will teach over your head and is awful at explaining it. Chegg couldnt help with the hwk. Its paragraphs instead of questions. Take with someone else, its working for me

Dr. Kubota really challenged me this last semester. There are daily quizzes over material that we are not clearly taught. Different sections emphasize on different topics, but there is only one exam. Kubota makes many errors on the board as he teaches and never gives examples. He means well and is very nice, but is not a good professor.

LOOK you run this class. You don't have to go to class. He curves the exams great (36 points for our first one). If you just want to get by the class and not learn a thing hes the guy. Don't take him if you want to learn. DON'T take the quizzes. My stupid class made me and it has hurt my grade dramatically.

Don't have to go to class, he sucks at teaching don't pay any attention to anything he teaches. But the plus side is you can talk him into anything, he always gives extra time on the homework. But he won't fail you

He's a nice guy but he is absolutely horrible at teaching. He is extremely slow, vague, and you basically have to have a PHD yourself to make any sense out of what he's saying. It's hard to see that the lectures, quizzes, homework and tests in this class are even remotely connected.

Kubota is a nice guy. He is willing to help students at almost any time and will schedule "problem sessions" per request. However, there was homework due every class and it was required to be typed up. The homework was all proofs, and we did not say the word "determinant" until the last few weeks of the semester. I spent 10-12 hrs/wk on this class.

You've probably read what other people here have to say about him. It's true, it's all so true. My MA471 (advanced calc/real analysis I) class started with 25 people and ended with 3. However, he is very nice if you talk to him.

The class was 100% read the textbook, homework (5 proofs due every class), and maybe 1-2 days later get a lecture on the section we had already turned in homework for. Expect to do more more than any other class you've taken

Run. A terrible teacher with very little structure to his classes. Homeworks are very difficult with little support coming form the lectures.

HW was assigned every class and worth 66.66% of grade. Often it was over content not yet taught in class. I spent about 15 hours a week on this class and barely eeked out an A. Take matrix with a different professor: he makes an easier math class into a super challenging one. Determinants are avoided at all costs; for that matter so were matrices

First of all, Dr. Kubota is one of the nicest professors around. Be ready to spend time in his office, because he teaches at a level way above the student's comprehension. Reading is essential for passing. The entire class is proofs.

I am a good student, and a math major. This was the hardest class I've had at UK, and not because of the subject. It was because of the teacher. All the learning I did I did from the textbook or from Kahn Academy- not from Kubota. Class, the book, and the homework are all different. He makes no sense. Worst math experience at UK for sure.

This class started with 30 people, and has been whittled down to five unfortunate souls who can't drop the course. As one of these five, I can only offer this advice: Avoid Ken Kubota. He's an incredibly kind person, but he will teach way over your head and decline to explain the necessary elementary details of the subject matter.

Well it was a hard class but I ended up with a B.... don't really think I learned anything, it looked like it was going to be awful so I made it pass/fail (so getting a b kinda sucked...) It was his first time teaching the course, and he made it very hard, but in the end he went easy on the grading. So it wasn't that bad in the end.

Absolutely positivity never NEVER EVER take a class with Dr. Kubota. I mean it. Don't do it. Just drop the class on day one and add a new section of the class. Trust me. Worst prof I've had at UK so far, and it's not even close.

DO NOT TAKE KUBOTA FOR ANYTHING EVER. If you walk in and he is your teacher stand up and walk out. He is the worst teacher I have ever had. Impossible to understand, teaches like its a grad course for a computer science major. AWFUL AWFUL TEACHER

Homework and exam material are not covered well in lecture, get more use out of doing problems in the book. The problems he assign are overly complicated.
