Prof. Lacroix was amazing! She gave great feedback, made announcements every week and expressed if we needed help she was there. I also enjoyed the textbook stories that we had to read.

You have to read a bunch of short stories and analyze them. The final is revising a story you read (as in typing the whole story but different pov, plot; etc). Readings are weekly 3-4 stories, and discussions are cake + replies. Weekly quizzes based off reading. Quizzes are about the stories, so be sure to read or get the stories on Kindle/online.

Do the readings and you're golden. She always kept the class up-to-date and made the assignments super clear so I never felt lost (which is sometimes the case with online courses). Organized and lovely all-around!

Lots and lots of workshop reviews for your fellow students, but this is to be expected in a creative writing class. Easy grader, submit and you will recieve full credit. Allows room for creativity in the fairy tale genre, doesn't limit students, but rather, lets them explore various topics. Quite a bit of work, but a fun class all the same.

LaCroix is an amazing and passionate Professor. Her course is reading heavy (reading about 6 stories a week) but easy to get through if you make the time. She gives great feedback on your weekly discussions and is always available via email. I will take her again but I highly recommend her course. It was interesting.

As an online student, I usually feel nervous to reach out to my professors but LaCroix was an exception! She is so personable and SUPER organized - very approachable and I feel like she explained her expectations clearly throughout the course. If you like critically analyzing text and enjoy reading new pieces of work, you NEED to take this class!

I've also taken LaCroix for ENG 494. She is an absolutely wonderful instructor and always chooses the most interesting texts - but I may be biased because I enjoy contemporary lit. That being said, she is strict with her deadlines and do not expect much leniency. I think this is also why I appreciate her so much - for her organization.

Be prepared to thoroughly read the material. If you do, you will enjoy this class. The discussion assignments were a bit heavy on the expected content, but if you are familiar with the text, you will do just fine. Be prepared to read (a lot!) and write (a lot!) but there didn't seem to be right or wrong discussions - originality was encouraged.

Professor LaCroix is very nice & clear in both her lectures and her expectations. The assignments aren't hard--as long as you make an effort you'll be fine--but there are a lot of them. Make sure you have time in your week to read & do the discussion posts. There's a term paper, but she gives you a lot of time and room for creativity.

I loved this class. I learned a lot about how to analyze short stories and the stories themselves were wonderful. If I emailed her with questions she always got back to me that same day, if not the same hour.

The fairytale class was interesting and the work was easy to do if you keep on top of it. Weekly reading and quizzes with three major writing projects. Dr. Lacroix gave in depth feedback and encouraged other students to do the same.

Contemporary Fairy Tales was an interesting and fun class. It was reading-heavy with quizzes and responses for the first half, then it was a writing workshop. The class was nicely organized and La Croix gave great feedback.

I loved this class. Discussion posts, quizzes on the reading and replies to other posts from the previous discussion due every Monday and Thursday. About an hour of reading each Monday and Thursday. She was quick to email back and the assignments were clear and honestly not much effort needed. Super easy A!

A lot of reading and writing. I enjoyed it, but that could be hard for some. Not specific about formatting (MLA/APA), but wants thoughtful answers from the specific questions asked. Read, discussion questions, quiz, reply to discussion questions, repeat. That's what the class did. Final project 100 points due at the end.

You must participate in class discussion boards to pass, but the prompts make it easy to write about the stories read (which are a must.) One big Term paper. Lectures are awesome and tie into discussion questions. Reading comprehension quizzes are easy if you read the stories.

I really loved taking her class. It is a good amount of work, but if you do what you're supposed to do then you'll easily pass. It's about 8 stories, 2 quizzes, and two discussions post per week (split in half b/w Mon. and Thurs.) and a term paper at the end. It sounds like a lot, but I enjoyed the class and thought she did a great job.

Textbook is Cheap! I took the summer version, but I was still able to get all of the readings done in time. The best part for this professor is her online class setup is mature and finished, not still updating like other professors. Readings weren't to long and the assignments pretty easy. Start on your final project early.

Due dates attainable. This is a 300 level english class, youre going to read! I had no idea how to analyze a short story, but the instructor did not criticize or dock points if you were clueless during a discussion, as long as you gave it your best attempt to back up your thoughts. Hard to make time for term project with other assignments.
