Reads for 3 hours off of her powerpoint and we learn nothing. Her tests have nothing to do with the course material. Says we will get assignments back within the week and we do not get it back for an extra month. Does not give assignments back before the exam either. Does not give feedback on assignments and thinks everything is plagiarism.

Seems relatively nice. Reads powerpoints for 2+h. Takes FOREVER to get grades back. Test are not very well explained and no feedback on how to study better moving forward. DRY, DRY, DRY material. 3+ of videos a week (movies, lectures)

Comment:

Had Liane for both Women's Studies and Psych. Kind of a hard marker, and she takes forever to grade papers (you'll easily be waiting over 4 weeks for your grade). She's a really nice person but her lectures are boring.

Comment:

She is not helpful at all and favourites certain students. I never went to the class but still passed with a good mark because she reads directly off the slides for a solid 3 hours and posts them on D2L for us. Why bother going to sit in the class when I could stay and do the same work in bed... pointless class.

Liane is a very down-to-earth, understanding, laid back teacher. She is very easy to approach. Her tests were always fairly straightforward but her final exam was challenging. I did not want to take Women's Studies but she made the class more enjoyable. Only negative is she always canceled office hours.

Comment:

Liane is a really warm and understanding individual. Both flexible and good-natured. Her love of the material was evident and her teaching exemplary. Overall the course was really enjoyable and I'd definitely recommend Liane as a professor, provided that one is openminded to the course's subject matter and capable of some independent learning.

Absolutely horrendous teacher, and an even more horrendous subject. I've never had a teacher mark so slow in my life, cancel office hours so often, and not follow through on anything she says. I've had nothing but problems with her disorganization and would never take another one of her classes ever again.

Liane was a super awesome teacher! She is very down to earth and is very approachable and available for help. Her classes are very laid back and extremely interesting. Provokes a lot of thought and makes you challenge your ideas of society.

Good course, good prof. Very down to earth. Tough, but fair marker. Enjoyable lectures. She presents material well and in ways that really prompt us to think about it and form our own opinions. Good 1st year advisor too! I'd definitely take another course with her.
