The work itself is not very hard at all. Easy A, but if you don't understand something, good luck because she will go off on you if you ask. Unorganized. Always late. Oh and I'm pretty sure she constantly monitors her rate my professor. She even replied on here to snap on somebody once. Psychotic.

I had an A in her class. She is late all the time. Getting papers back is very slow. She is snappy. It is true. However, I never had a problem with her. I do think that her responses to you guys' ratings kind of just dug a deeper hole. Some students come off as hostile, but if so many are saying the same thing that usually means it's time to change

I worried about this class all semester. I'm in broadcast journalism and fancy myself a decent writer. I got my first paper back and she tore me to shreds saying "you aren't a good enough writer for your argument to be effective" then i didn't get another one of my FIVE papers back until the LAST DAY OF CLASS. She's all over the place.

She spends more time discussing personal problems than teaching. I have witnessed her belittling students when they have asked for clarification. She is late to class...a lot. Her office looks like an episode of hoarders. She treats students poorly and then tries to justify her actions.

She's an okay teacher but she tends to not be organized, papers are graded very late (wont know your grade until probably the end of the semester), does not really clarify what she wants (meaning you have to ask many questions on what she wants), when you do ask questions she tends to snap on you. Most students are scared to asked questions.

This lady is insane. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She took two months almost to grade my first paper. She is never clear with what she wants. She will also lecture you on how she is in fact a "great professor". I would rather have taken literally anyone but her.

This was the worst class Ive ever taken. Though this class was easy, I am telling anyone who reads this that this class is not worth it. She is the most unorganized and frustrating teacher i've ever met. I never got one grade back the entire semester because she would lose all the papers we handed in. It was a complete waste of time and money.

I made a pretty good grade in her class(2yrs ago), so I am not biased. She is a good teacher, but she needs to calm down. My classmates and I were afraid to ask her questions bc she always got snappy. She was 10 mins late to class everyday, it's true. But if you went to a decent high school & got decent grades in english you should b fine. its easy

This shouldn't be a difficult course but Dr. Payne makes it hard. She expects a lot and is very lazy, unorganized and condescending. She is incapable of grading papers in a timely manner and you don't know what to expect from her. Everything is unclear and she does not teach at all, just gives instructions and puts us in groups.

Dr. Payne's class is extremely unprofessional. She is disorganized and condescending. It is 2 weeks until the end of the semester and I only have 2 papers graded. She frequently argues with students and constantly complains about personal problems. My high school language teacher is the only reason I have retained a good grade in this class.

I may be holding her up to high standards, because I have loved every other prof. on campus, but she is by far the worst of them. She never has anything ready, hasn't graded my first paper (halfway through the semester), she's always late, she's lost almost half the class's papers completely. Absolutely disorganized, uninteresting, & condescending.

HORRIBLE teacher. Puts us in groups every day and never teaches us anything. More than halfway through the semester and we still haven't gotten our first papers back. Always really rude to one student in our class. Gets mad if you don't understand something. I could go on and on and on.

The worst professor on campus. I am currently enrolled in her class and it is terrible. Very disorganized, assigns nothing but busy work and pointless papers she can't even grade, and incredible defensive. Constantly yells at a foreigner in my class since he doesn't speak english well. She can do nothing wrong and is hateful. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.

Guys, this class was easy. The material was straight-forward, and literally, all you have to do is go to class with minimal studying, and you make an A. I studied maybe two hours per test tops. She gives quizzes that let you know how well you're doing. I enjoyed the class a lot.

She's late for class everyday, but only 10 mins. Her class is easy, but it took all my will power to get up in the morning to go to her class. If you want a good professor, I would not take her. Oh, beware of her office. I think she lives in there.

Comment:

Yes, Dr. Payne was late (a lot) and very unorganized. Reading assignments and "busy work" were common. I didn't care for her quick-to-jump-on-the-defense attitude or how she acts like questions are a burden, she does her best for each student's benefit to improve writing skills. It was a stressful class, but Dr. Payne helps as much as she can.
