The guy is one of the coolest, funniest and happiest professors at Poly. YES, he gives you a lot of readings to do but he allows you to ask questions the next class and usually he gives answers to the quiz that way. You have a quiz every class and your test are open book and note. Journals are due before every lecture also. Easy class to make an A

Ok, if you want a teacher that is going to hold your hand and walk you step by step though every assignment, here's your guy. He seriously treats you like you're in 8th grade. He also doesn't give you any form of guidelines or rubric for the essays so what he's looking for is anyone's guess. So Dr. Stevens, consider this a black dot for you!

Gives a lot more work then any other professor. Attendance is mandatory! Requires pointless reading for a quiz every class. I would NOT take him if you are a architecture student! His class has to much extra work, which makes it hard to complete all the revisions and reading and he is not willing to help you. He lost my essay multiple times.

Dr. Stevens will probably be one of the easiest professors you could take for English. He is definitely a dork, and likes to talk about zombies, and make "interesting" comments, but he is a great professor.

This is a GREAT professor. I'd recommend him for anyone who is willing to do their work. Attendance counts towards your grade at the end of the year, but if you miss a class he will go the extra mile to email you and make sure you get all of your assignments.

Requires way too much effort for an english class. Compared to other english teacher your doing overkill on the work. Reading every night and writing 9+ essays. If you don't like english and simply just want an easy class, do not take him. His personality is great, but does get obnoxious when he has so much enthusiasm and you could care less.

I really enjoyed Dr. Stevens even though I hate writing. I learned alot in his class even though I think he kindof hated the topics I would choose for my papers. Pretty nice, pretty fair guy.

Dr. Stevens was great! If you want a class with few assignments look elsewhere, but if you want to learn a lot take Stevens. He is very enthusiastic and makes class a ton of fun. He is helpful outside of class and there are many opportunities to improve your grade. I give him an A+

Great professor, highly enjoyed the class (I normally despise Lit). Make sure to do the reading and ask questions in class; he explains selections quite well and I always left understanding what was going on. Tests can be difficult; make sure to write notes in and bookmark your textbook. Highly recommended!

He is a very nice professor and likes to joke in class. This class is a lot of reading and you have MC questions quizzes every class. You can miss up to 3 but then deductions take place. try to attend every class. Tests are short answer/essays and are graded very hard. have to use quotes from text which you can use on the test.

Love this teacher. Quizzes are EASY they are 5 MC questions to make sure you read the 10-15 pages for HW. Classes are kinda fun, better than high school English. Beware, you will write 9 papers 2-3pg papers for him. (Only 6 are graded though). He ISNT one of those tools who takes off a point for each missing comma either. Great guy, will take again

Alright teacher, but he cares a little too much about his class. I had him for English 1102, a class that none of the students particularly cared about. He expected a level of effort too great for a BS class. He would be a great teacher were he teaching English to English majors, but he does not understand the relative unimportance of his class.

Dr. Stevens really loves British literature and it shows in his teaching. He assigns about 40 pages of reading a class and gives a quiz over the material. Journals are easy and essential for a good grade. All test questions are answered in class. Take notes in your books because you can use them on the test. This is a great class.

Comment:

Great teacher, lots of fun in class. He really puts himself out there when he's reading poetry. I can't stand poetry, but this guy made it as interesting as possible. Lots of reading to do, I took this in the Summer and as a short semester subject it felt like all I did was read for this class those few weeks. Tests were tough but fair.

I enjoy literature just about as much as getting punched in the stomach. However, this guy does make the poetry read in class fun. You really have to read before EVERY class in order to do well on the daily quizzes. A whole lot of work for someone who doesn't enjoy this type of subject... that's why I go to SPSU...

This guy is great! You write all about what you want to, his topics are very broad so that it will interest you more. The reading is a little bit tedius but it's not hard at all. Has regular quizzes that are very easy if you read the chapters. Quirky since of humor, likes to get the class involved. Definately my favorite teacher up to date.
