She is nice and try to help, but she cannot explain the concepts very well. But this class is not that hard if you read the slides and ask questions. Exam is very fair. For the project, people should go to her office hours for help and discuss your ideas with her. She likes people with creative thoughts.

Great mentor. Go to her office hours, she is very helpful. Exams are hard, but she does want you to do well. Her advice on the projects are great too! She does make an effort to know her students despite a big class size! She is the course coordinator, hence she makes the exams, so i would recommend taking the class with her!

MacGarvie isn't a very good professor in my opinion, but she doesn't get much help from the other professors as the course coordinator. Makes everything more confusing than it needs to be.

She's really nice and pretty funny. Tests/material in general are easy, but the regression project SUCKED! I think she's definitely one of the better choices for 222.

She's a really nice person, but she can kind of be confusing during class. If you participate and ask questions though you'll be fine. On the tests, write down everything you know because they're good about extra credit. She's a little awkward but I think she's getting better.

This class is hard itself but MacGarvie tries really hard to teach it. She can sometimes be confusing however if you go to her review sessions before exams, she clears everything up. I think people dislike her because the class material is difficult.

socially awkward and extremely boring. her slides make sense, but when she speaks, she makes things more confusing. i definitely taught myself in this class.

Macgarvie is a sweet lady, but she would be a better kindergarten teacher then a college professor. Her lectures/slides are unclear and she is not very organized. I emailed her several times with questions about concepts and I am still waiting for her reply. She is not very accessible to her students and plays favorites.

Professor MacGarvie seems to have her students' best interest at heart, but she doesn't have strong teaching skills. She makes an easy topic more difficult than it needs to be, and doesn't explain student's questions well. She always let's class out late too, which is annoying. She's ok, but try to take someone else if you can.

very good teacher. also a very fair grader and a very helpful teacher in office hours and just overall. i would definetely recommend her. she wont screw you over on your grade which is very rare in smg.
