He is very knowledgable and passionate about media, especially journalism. Very helpful and easily approachable. The exams (3 of them, worth 80% of your total grade) can be quite tricky, even if you feel like you know what's going on. I enjoyed learning from him, but the difficulty of his exams make me question if I'd take him again.

I'm a DUQ graduate and have my BA in Journalism, so the majority of the classes I had were with Dr. D. He'll rebuild your confidence and give you pointers on how to fix your mistakes. I know if I hadn't had his classes I wouldn't be the journalist I am today. His classes aren't easy, he expects and requires a lot from his students. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

News 1 with Dillon. He killed my paper but he is a prof who will help you if you study/work hard. He will tell you that your writing sucks, but i think that is the point of News1 to shatter your confidence in writing, and then rebuild it. Other then that, strict professor but a great man.

He's one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. I've learned so much from him. Don't believe the other comments saying he's "cocky" -- he's extremely helpful, funny, and kind. If you're a journalism student at Duquesne, be thankful that you're fortunate enough to learn from this man. I can't imagine our journalism department without him.

If you want to learn how to be a better writer and journalist, take this class: Dillon knows what he's talking about. Be prepared: There is a ton of work. But, then again, if you consider writing ?work,? then journalism probably isn?t for you.

I had Dillon for writing for journalists and it was alright. He was pretty cocky, but to be a good writer I think that's a necessity. I didn't find his confidence to be a problem as he was very helpful and understanding. I don't really like the news style of writing but he graded things fairly

He's excellent. You'll work a lot, but if you enjoy writing and reporting you'll have fun. It's so interesting to learn what goes into a news article, and Dr. Dillon is a great man to teach you that.
