Comment:
Tends to nitpick, but good work will receive credit. Stories and lectures can get a bit drawn-out, but are all very interesting. Amazing movie selections, you won't get bored with them. Responses are DIFFICULT and exams are EVEN MORE DIFFICULT. Just pay attention, SHOW UP TO CLASS, take good notes, write complex responses. Youll be fine.

The professor gives clear information and allows for different perspectives and opinions on the films we watched. Only two papers as assignments. While reading is not strictly required, the professor puts information from the book into the midterm and final. It's a good class but its not necessarily set up for credit.

He just talks and talks and talks so much that 90% of the class is on their phone the whole time. I dropped the class because he only counts midterms and finals as grades and his tests were not multiple choice! He expected us to remember 50+ movies/characters and write essays about it. During the midterm people were googling answers.

Best teacher I've had this semester! He really knows the material and his lectures are often insightful and interesting. His class is easy: 2 essays, a midterm, and a final. To do well, you need to copy the notes on the board and be in class to watch the films/excerpts. If you do that, you're golden.

He sucks. Most boring teacher I have ever had. I find it hard to stay awake. The whole class is zoned out and uninterested. Most boring nerdy teacher I have ever had. Plus only 4 grades midterm and final 60% of grade and I passed but many kids failed. Do not take this teacher unless you have trouble falling asleep. Then he will help you sleep.

His film classes are so well organized that it's hard to fail. Two essays, a midterm, and a final. He writes all the notes on the board, so if you have a copy of that to study, the tests are not much of a problem. He will talk to you about the essays online or in his office, so there is no time wasted in class listening to people whining.

The class seemed great at first... Night class (which I prefer), watch tv shows, learn about different genres, etc. But, after getting a poor grade on the first assignment and then the mid term, I wasn't loving it. When I explained to him I understand the criteria, but was not understanding what he was looking for, he referred me to the "syllabus".

Don't take it as a joke class only take it if your interested in film and want to learn about them. I'm admittedly not the best student but my one big thing is that he doesn't give you an idea on what to study for during exams. He does know much about film so above all he knows what he's talking about. Also he doesn't assigns tests 2 exams.

I found the man to be very condescending and pompous. He's not mean just the opposite of helpful. Any question to him is met with "check the syllabus" and then he laughs like you're dumb. The films are boring and it's not easy either so don't take as a joke class because his ego is too big to allow his class to be viewed as pointless.

I've taken 5 or 6 classes with him. He's really great. He knows such much; talks not just about the film, but about history, politics and culture. He brings out the best in you when you comment. Am looking forward to his next class.

Extremely knowledgeable about international films and a great enthusiast of the movies. His preps are thorough. Outstanding selector of movies for his courses. Not a great discussion leader, but tries. A true intellectual. I've taken Italian, German, and Middle Eastern film courses from him. Will sign up fopr more from this guy.

He's an interesting guy. He's met a lot of famous people and tells stories about all of them. I took this class over the summer and the grades were just a couple tests and two papers. Not bad at all. We watched movies every day. It was pretty cool.

I loved Intro to American Cinema so much that I took Foreign Cinema the next semester it was offered. These classes were by far the most interesting courses I ever took in college. Mike Giuliano sparked my interest in film and I have been hooked ever since.

Not a very clear syllabus, when asking him Q's... its a bit awkward. Where u find movies from Brazil in the mid 1900's relating 2 kid gangs... YA GOT ME!! I dropped the course b/c what he was asking for was nearly impossible to find w/ the minimal guidance he provides. Take this course if your intrested in the topic,Bus. mj'rs stick with FINE 101

He is a cool guy. I took this class at night which I think is the best idea because you might get sleepy in the mornings when you watch the movies. Like people said, midterm and final, thats it. Copy the notes he writes on the board, study them, come to class and you should be good.
