Comment:
Kautch has a very dry sense of humor and if you're a pretty sensitive person, you might think he's mean. He is actually one of the nicest and most approachable professors in that place. You can tell that he loves to teach and that he really wants you to learn. If you need help or are confused, he will make the time to help you.

Comment:
Extremely good teacher if you are capable of thinking on a higher plane. If you are unable to think abstractly, you will not do well with him and should probably have gone to Washburn where they teach a more practical method of legal analysis. Kautsch is easily one of the best teachers that KU has to offer.

o He has little sense of if his class understands what he's talking about, he often posts assignments 5 minutes before class starts, he has you prepare assignments he doesn't even talk about, and he is usually extremely difficult to follow. On the plus side, he seems like a nice guy. Good luck.

He certainly likes listening to himself talk. But don't expect to learn much from his off topic rantings.

I had his Law of Communications class through the J-school as an undergrad back in the 80s. His approach to dissecting the issues was a real eye-opener for me, as well as his instruction into constructing effective arguments. Excellent instructor.

Kautsch is a very nice man, I think his teaching methods are just above us sometimes. He would do better with a smaller class. He was very helpful outside of class and generous with his time.

Can we say "NO STRUCTURE"? He seems smart, but he just rambles in class and goes off on tangents about crazy hypos and then whizzes through the 30 pg. reading assignment in the last 3 minutes of class. The entire semester was very frustrati

Not for you if you want to be spoon fed. He likes to go into one or two cases per day pretty deeply, turbo through the rest.

I learned a lot from him. I enjoyed taking torts from him. But it was really annoying when he would cover like 6 cases in 5 minutes.
