Dr. Roche is by far the most amazing teacher I've ever encountered. He is passionate and inspires you to do the work. He lectures straight from the book in all of his classes, so you won't get away with not purchasing a physical textbook. You haven't experienced anyone like Roche before, take at least one of his classes.

I learned the most from Roche out of any of my professors. His teaching style is very unique and a bit hard to catch on to, but once you do, you will never want to miss this class. He does not require attendance, but a majority of what is on his tests are things discussed in class. 10/10 recommend taking a class taught by this professor!!

Comment:

Dr. Roche is the best professor I've had in my college career. I've taken every class that he has to offer and each one is better than the last. You cannot miss class, but he makes you not want to miss class. You will learn more about your rights, the law, and the role the law plays in reflecting society's values in all of his classes. Best at USD.

This has been a great class. The entire grade is based on how tests go. Roche is very funny and a great teacher, he cares a lot about his students. If you don't put In the work to prepare and study you won't pass the class. Overall it was a great experience. Having your book is very important to.

Dr. Roche is the reason I am studying criminal justice at USD. His lectures in intro, criminal law, and criminal procedure are amazing. He knows each student in his class and calls on them by name to engage the group discussion. Dr. Roche is a teacher that has incredible compassion for his students. He makes it clear that he cares about teaching.

Dr. Roche is tied for my favorite professor at USD, his lectures are amazing and really cares to know what the students think of the material being discussed. His tests are very hard and specific, if you do not attend class good luck on an exam.

Roche is and will always be the best professor that I have ever had. His lectures are incredible and he teaches his students on more than just material on this class. Truly has changed the way that I study and how much I care about my grades because he taught me that I must work to earn them

Mr. Roche is the best. He really tries to get everyone involved in discussion so make sure to read. There are writing points involved which require you to go to class to earn them, they are essentially extra credit.

Attendance isn't mandatory but he does give unannounced writing points if you are there and it helps your grade a lot. He expects you to know the material before class so read! He makes lectures very entertaining and fun to go to.

Very entertaining which makes it easy to go to lectures. He does take the class very seriously and expects the most out of everyone there. Expect in class participation even with a class of 100+.

I have only taken Intro with Dr. Roche so far and I got over 100% in the class. I did not do a lot of reading, but I did not miss class except for once. Ted's SI definitely got me the grade I got. Sadly he's moved onto law school. Go to class and if there is a new SI instructor do that and study the sheets and you'll do great.

Dr. Roche excepts you to read before class so you can be engaged with group discussions. He uses the book everyday while he is lecturing but also gives court cases that relate to the material and even though their are not many test his test are sorta difficult.

I went to USD in 1982 and took Intro to CJ. Mike did not limit the amount of students that could take the course so he taught it in a auditorium where students sat in the isles and on the floor down front because all the seats were always full. Do I need to say more???
