I feel sorry for those students who didn't get the chance to take his class. Tracy was one, if not the best professor I've had. He cares as much about your work as you do and if you're not putting forth the effort then he won't put up with your crap. I've improved so much thanks to him and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to be in his class.

Mike Tracy is probablly one of the most real people you coudl ever meet. You learn this through his teaching and through his stories. I have learned more and become a much better artist and person from listening to his lectures and advice. All around the best teacher at this school.

He was a really hard teacher and he cut nobody and slack. One girl in the class stood up to him and his comments and she was shoot down really fast. He told me I shouldn't have passed my portfolio review (when I did) and take some other classes over again. I just smiled and said ok but never did or had interest to. Class is mandatory to take :(

If you're confident and already an accomplished artist, you will find his class challenging but fun. If you're still just new to this area, just don't take his class. And don't expect him to COME help you. You have to approach him yourself. His gradings are harsh and so are his comments. Only for the strong hearted else you might go home crying.

I've had a well rounded encounter with Mike. He has had the opportunity to educate me in many areas of my art, and since having encountered him, my work has improved immensly. He is by far my favorite instructor of all time, but not just because he is great at what he does, its because he's got those goofy glasses! Seriously though, he's awesome :)

Aha! This teacher will kick your A_ss but will make you into a better person. This is the only time I will deal with it! IF anyone can give you an idea what it's like to make it bigtime, HE IS IT. The critiques are insightful and he sees good in the worst students, using it as an opportunity to create another powerful lecture. You must try hard!

Tracy has to be one of the best teachers at the school. He can tell if you are trying or not, andhas torn finished drawings in half when he thought the student didn't try hard enough. Take him if you can. He won't be easy, but you will learn a lot if you actually want to.

The hardest teacher I ever had, but not necessarily unreasonably so. I can say that in my time at AI, Tracy got me to do work that I didn't think I was capable of. Hats off to Tracy for being hard as heck without being a jerk. He's got my respect, without a doubt.
