Comment:

Coulter was a wonderful and funny professor. Attendance is taken, so show up! The class is easy as long as you attend class, take notes, and study for exams. Notes are mostly vocabulary words. Midterm and final are fill in the blank, but word bank is provided. Making flashcards or using Quizlet is recommended. Quizzes every Friday; 5 ?'s ea.

Comment:

I enjoyed Dr. Coulter's class. I found it to be engaging and the tests are quizzes were easy. He gives you study guides and if you don't study those then you might have a hard time, but he is fairly easy in my opinion.

Comment:

Dr. Coulter was one of the my least favorite professors. He spends a good chunk of time talking about himself and other unrelated topics then we only spend about 10 minutes or so on actual class material. Unless this class is absolutely mandatory for your major I would not suggest taking it.

Comment:

Dr. Coulter is an amazing professor. His lectures are very interesting and sometimes, he talks about some things outside of class and crack up on some very funny jokes. All I got to say is that as long as you taking notes, then you will be fine in his class. His quizzes and exams are not so hard as long as you study. I highly recommended!

Comment:

I highly disliked Professor Coulters and I would not recommend him to anyone. He spends most of class time talking about himself, the expensive school his son goes to and, worst of all, his political views. Then he gives tons of pop quizzes and hard exams after not giving us much information during class. He's also incredibly stubborn.

He is clearly an expert in his field, but getting him to teach about the topic without rabbit trailing for 15-25 minutes is impossible. The class is not hard if you have music knowledge already but don't take it just to fulfill requirements of music is no your thing.

Comment:

Monte Coulter is an amazing professor. I suggest him to everyone. If you need an easy upper level elective take Music of the World with him. He tells great stories and you can see his passion for the subject he teaches. A little bit of studying and some flashcards an A is guaranteed!

He likes to talk A LOT. He would take up 30 mins of class talking about off topic things. However this class was easy. Definitions are the key to this course. The tests and quizzes are based off definitions. 3 listening quizzes(which were simple), pop quizzes, 2 writing assignments, and 2 tests.

If you need to learn things gradually, I recommend not taking him for therory. He is a very nice guy however very unclear in class. He also spent way too much time on irrelevant information not pertaining to the course. Very easy to get confused and frustrated in his class; think twice before taking him.
