Comment:

When she reviews for a test, she doesn't really review equations. Like the first test, she reviewed symbols and definitions and none of that was on the test! I never missed class and always participated and I was a half point from getting a C in her class and she gave me a D. Participation is not considered. My class was so disrespectful to her.

Worst teacher ever. If you get lost for 1 lesson and try to ask for help on it the next day, she's already moved on and will yell at you during class for being behind. Too many quizzes on MyMathLab and she won't tell you when they are either. If you miss them, that's it. And if you're sick for a test and miss it, there is no make up. Save yourself!

Very tough grader, picky about notation, multiple point deductions for the same error within the same problem. Great notes and explanations. All notes from classes were uploaded online after the class.

This is a tough class, she grades very harshly and not very fairly. Notation must be PERFECT or your losing points. Class started with 35 and ended with 9 so not for the faint of heart. The upside is that her notes and info are very organized and she grades very quickly. I wouldn't take her class again and a summer class with her would be suicide

Very bad teacher. I'm warning you do not take a class with her. Tests do not reflect what is taught in class and every single one had material from the next unit on it. Grading is uneven and meticulous. She will take mark off for things she does not do herself.

She breezes quickly over the material, and her lectures are all word problems, making 1.5 hr+ lecture notes a nightmare to decipher. There are 0 practice tests, and the small review assignment we're given never fully prepares you for the test. I've always considered myself good in math, but I just couldn't learn the material the way she taught it.

The course at Wake Tech requires you to turn in Prepare and reflects, which is something the Department chose to do. I think the prepares waste our class time we pay for because we have to sit there and watch her grade them while in class. This class is challenging and covers lots of stuff. Rivers did good job making me learn.

I took this class in the Spring, and she was terrible. No test reviews, and no answer keys to the tests are given at all. She makes sure that the tests look nothing like anything you have done in the class. Does useless assingments like Prepare and Reflect. Good Statistics (Mat 151) teacher, but you might want to find another teacher for Calculus.

She's hard. I had her for 2 semesters and barely passed. Its hard to comprehend what she teaches in class. Though she's a nice person, she confuses me whenever I try asking her for help. She's also super picky about assignments being turned in on time; otherwise, you get a zero, no exceptions. If you're not good in math, don't take her class.

Rivers is very unhelpful and expects you to know trig the first day you walk in to class. I studied so much for the first exam and failed, miserably. The tests are not consistent with lectures (powerpoints) - if you are not good at math, do not take Rivers.

She is a tough grader, but she is relatively amiable. This class is not for the weak at heart, but she answers questions thoroughly and wants students to succeed. She is a good teacher even though she teaches through powerpoints.

Puts no grades online, acts like she has to prove her authority.if you miss a class and an assignment is given..you get a zero(no exceptions)grades tough,but does drop a few grades at end of semester (supposedly bc none are posted so its impossible to average your grades yourself) i do NOT recommend taking her bc not clear instruction when teaching

I am retaking this class over the summer, and my teacher is SO much better than this one. I am passing everything now because of how well my current teacher is teaching in comparison to Rivers. I am upset that she could not do such a good job. She uses POWERPOINTS and goes REALLY FAST. Hated her class. Hated her teaching style even more.

My first D in a class ever. Horrible teacher who does NOT care about her students. She may be a good 140 teacher, but she should NOT be teaching higher level math classes. I never hated math as much as I do now, and it's all her fault. I DID try in her class.

Rating is actually skewed. In her Math 140 class she is a much better teacher because the concepts are easier. I know because one of my friends is taking her for 140. But in her higher level classes, she's horrible. Laughs at questions. Rude. Hard grader. Disinterested and unhelpful. More than half the class dropped. Don't take her.

Seemed disinterested in being in class, went through powerpoints & that is it. She would be a great online teacher-but if you are looking for classroom instruction. She's not for you.Complete disconnect from homework problems and quizzes to what is actually on the test.This could be the math department though, not sure if all classes are this way.

I wouldn't recommend her unless you are a self starter/learner.Mostly she uses powerpoint to teach&will only work it out on board if someone asks.Sometimes she seems mad about it too.Gives 2 many projects for a MATH class&doesn't use time wisely to teach.She's very nice though.Won't even give a small hint about what's important to study 4 test.
