Nil is so nice and very fun but you will have to do two 12 minute speeches which are challenging but not impossible and your grade basically relies on how you do on the tests.

Comment:

Nil is the best Spanish teacher I've ever had. He is a super caring man who truly loves his jobs. My class was oral-based and he encourages everyone to speak. He corrects you when you make a mistake but never in a way that makes you feel bad. He likes to tell stories about his time in Spain and loves to hear from his students.

Comment:

Nil is a great teacher. Class is fun and very relaxed, just a group discussion about a topic more often than not. His tests are easy and he is not a hard grader. His biggest thing is participation so make sure you have something to say and ask questions and you'll be great! He is a very kind and understanding teacher and his class was enjoyable.

I took his graduate Fascism in Spain seminar as an undergrad, because the department opened it up. VERY challenging for an undergrad - almost 250 pages of reading per week! However, Nil worked with the undergrads and changed the syllabus when we were struggling to keep up. I learned much more than I expected! Only take if you want the challenge!

"El Santi" rocks. He's an awesome prof who really goes above and beyond. I learned tons. Really recommend this one. Not easy but worth it. Gets all sexy like James Bond. Very brainy.

Does not foster class participation and very easy to lose attention. He does not follow his syllabus and makes changes with very little notice. Any changes he makes are only said once and he fail to make sure everyone understands what they are (This is the only time where he NEEDS TO and SHOULD speak English). Avoid at all costs!

really funny but expectations unclear. didnt follow the syllabus and changed it with hardly any notice. his voice is such that makes it easy to stop paying attention. gives hardly any reminders to whats due and when. dont take if u can get around it

Nil's lectures are incoherent and disorganized. He does not foster class participation or group analysis; rather he spends the entire hour lecturing 'stream of consciousness' style. His bipolar-like personality made this inherently interesting topic insufferable. His expertise in this area is a HINDRANCE to a student's learning!

The funniest professor I've ever had, hands down - which made class enjoyable to come to. I didn't read half the stuff we were supposed to for this Lit class and ended up with an A. Generally a generous grader. 2 papers, 2 group presentations, midterm and final. People didn't do so hot on the midterm so he had an optional makeup exam. Great guy!

Great techer! Funny guy and very clear and helpful. Makes learning a foreign language fun. Pretty easy grader on tests and the two papers you have to write in his class. Also teaches about random things that aren't in the book, so each class is interesting and entertaining

Probably a good prof for lower level Spanish, but horrible for upper level. A quote from class: "I do not care what [the students] think" (about literature). This was a literature class. He honestly thinks literature is a science. Class is probably okay for grad students or native speakers.
