Seriously, just don't take him. I didn't listen to the other reviews and thought I could handle him, but he made it impossible. He grades according to his political beliefs, and failed me and several other students overall. Three MC exams (not too hard), three written assignments (you'll fail). If you take him, expect a final grade of F.

He has strict writing rules but has atrocious writing himself. Doesn't work well with students and is unreasonable, condescending and dictatorial in manner. He is unclear about what he expects from you as a student and about his expectations for the assignments. He also likes to arbitrarily change deadlines for important assignments.

He is by far the worst teacher I have ever had!! He is not understanding at all and is not willing to work with his students. He has the worst gradeing scale. There were some students that I worked with that did a lot of work and were cheated out of the grade they earned. I do not recommend this teacher.

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! Prof. Mitchell is single-handedly the WORST professor I've every had. He treated us like a bunch a first graders with his assignment rules, which are unclear and babble. This is PLS not a grammar course. He is a hypocrite and doesn't even follow his own rules-his grammar and spelling are atrocious! Assignments on a bias-HIS!

One of the worst. NVCC seems to think he's priceless because he continues to get work. Has strict writing rules (his own nonsensical homemade preferences), but has atrocious writing himself that would get you an F in any other course. Doesn't work well with students and is condescending and dictatorial in manner. Can't recommend him period!

ABSOLUTELY RUN FOR ANOTHER PROFESSOR!!! I was really interested in learning about politics, and for nearly 6 weeks was berated about writing skills. He was RUDE! I am an "A" student. He definitely should not be teaching. I am sure a great deal of students turned in their critiques at the end of class...why is he still teaching???

online class. His NOVA email account had major problems that the IT Dept. couldn't fix. He only accepted email for a short time from other accounts. He missed assignments, if you sent twice you lost points. Students were penalized for his inadequacy with knowledge of computers. Couldn't send attachments. ridiculous -someone who teaches online.

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS, even online, he is a bad teacher, period.He is definitely the worst professor I have ever had and he is very politically biased.I even tried to talk to him about the class and he was not helpful at all.He really shouldn't be teaching anymore.He is tough on grading grammar, but the grammar in his powerpoints is horrible.

I took him for both 135 and 211, online. The 135 class is a little easier. He DOES grade the assignments, each worth 10 points, and will take up to 5 off for JUST grammar!! On one I got 2 whole points!!The paper for the 211 class is impossibly hard, I had to get a massive amount of help from quite a few people. All the tests are multiple choice.

At first, I thought he was the worst teacher I had ever come across. And when I started to do poorly, I got angry. I cursed him out and he hopped on the good foot. He was on the phone twice a week helping me to understand and the other students too. I passed with a "B" and I was happy.

I was actually looking forward to this class after seeing the text (covering recent events like 2000 Presidential Election. I LOVED the live online class until the Prof. stopped the classes b/c most of the students "couldn't attend" the one Friday a month class! What a Wimp! VERY BORING! Take the online course, it is SO easy. he gives you assignments which he wants you to do bc they "enrich ur knowledge" they arent graded at ALL, just 3 tests. i totally 100% disagree with whate verybody said, butmaybe they didnt take it online

I agree with the other comments about professor mitchell, he is awful. He genuinely does not care about his students and is very unhelpful. Run, don't walk away from taking his class. He was a total disappointment, as was his course.

Professor Mitchell is the worst professor I've experienced at NOVA. His tests were unecessarily hard with questions that were not relevant to the study material and did not come from the ($120) study guide we had to purchase. His syllabus is written in a threatening tone and riddled with errors.
