A very kind teacher. She teaches well and explain everything in a simple manner. One of the most patient teachers I have met. Quizzes and test are relatively easy as long as you study and prepare well. Studying for it is not as hard and she is a fun teacher.

A very fast paced learning A+ class. Inaba sensei really teaches Japanese so well that you will learn the basic communications and characters ASAP! But beware, there are quizzes twice a week and she calls out people to read out loud and with partners. If you mispronounce some words, she will help you. Two midterms and finals (Oral and Written).

Comment:

Inaba sensei is my fav pro so far on campus. She is so nice and caring. Just follow her, take notes in class, review and memorize. YOU WILL GET AN A FOR SURE!!! People who do not study say her class is hard.

Comment:

Inaba is a caring and loving professor, the work load was firm and builds you a strong foundation in learning a new language. Two homework and two quizzes per week that keeps you study. Only one midterm and you get many day offs on oral test week. Have to come to class to keep up with grammars and many things to memorize. Easy A if you tried!

Comment:

So glad I took Inaba-sensei as she inspired me to pick up Japanese as a minor at uni. Her lectures are incredibly clear and she is really good and explaining grammar points. As long as you do a bit of studying every day, you'll do well in her classes. The quiz system keeps you on your toes, which keeps you accountable for her class content.

Her English is perfect. You will need to learn a lot of vocabulary every week and attend the class to learn the grammar. Avoid skipping if possible. There are about two homework plus two short quizzes a week. Don't skip homework, worth many points. No need to learn kana before starting this class.. you'll have to practice in a book anyway.

As a native English speaker, I was a minority among many ESL students. Although I found the class difficult at times, consistent practice makes this class very easy. I came out with a B expecting a C and if I can do it, so can you. She is extremely nice and patient towards students and I am personally a fan of her teaching style. Recommended!

I have experienced many different Japanese professors in De Anza, and Prof Inaba is one of my favorites. Some people complain about her English, but I really think her English is pretty decent, and remember there are several Japanese teachers speak worse English here. And for me reading and writing is really important for language learning.

She's polite, sweet, always smile. But She doesn't explain well, Japanese is a language that has a lot of tules, many ways to say the same thing base on situation (Cluture related), she doesn't explain that or give you personal learning tips. her notes are copied from textbook. office hour is ONLY 20 mins/day for both of her L1 & L2 class.

Inaba-sensei is a WONDERFUL Japanese teacher!! She is soft-spoken and is detailed about explaining grammar, and her classes were very engaging for me. I think the textbook is very important to learn from, and she utilizes it well, and is also good at having us practice the material we learn out loud. She's also adorable :)

I loved this class! Her lectures are very, very detailed and you leave confident in the material, you do have to study, but a VERY solid foundation. Quizzes are standard vocab, tests are tough but, show up do the HW and you're fine. Office hours very HELPFUL, also the class was just plain fun! Take her! HW graded on, did ya do it not correct or not

Just some basic kanjis for extra credit. Bascially you should be able to write in Hiragana but still manageable. Not strict and REALLY LENIENT. Clear grading system and no pop-up quizzes but one quiz every week. Mid terms and Final include oral test; just some basic expressions and sentences. If you put some effort to this class, SUPER-EASY!

Comment:

Hiragana and Katakana matters only for extra point and some minor things. You can write in alphabet for the test. Quizzes have basic sentence, vocab questions, and extra-point questions(if you can write some hiragana or katakana for the given words, you get extra point) And the teacher is really considerate, even patient with students who act up.
