Comment:
In the beginning of the semester, Dr. Hansons class may seem very overwhelming but if you're willing to work hard, the class is very easy to pass. The syllabus has the whole semester laid out so students can see what exactly they'll be working on, when they'll be working on it, when the assignment is due, and the estimated time for working on it.

At first it was really difficult but as time went on its actually pretty easy. I got an A and my last paper wasnt edited, I ran out of time and had to turn it in. I did meet him in person twice for feedback. He likes when you participate in discussions, and ASK QUESTIONS! I really enjoyed the class and feel good about the A I earned.

He's a nice professor as a person but for a teacher I don't recommend him. He acts like you shouldn't have a life outside of school and he gives at the least 5 to 6 hours of homework for each class. I have a child and a job so I'm struggling to keep up with all the work he assigns

Dr. Richard Hanson was a tough but fair professor. Be prepared to to apply yourself and put in the time because you will not pass this course on auto-pilot. He is very prompt in returning any questions and allows you to turn in work late without points lost. He would rather grade an assignment correct than grade sub-par work. Extra credit is av.

I took English 102 online with him, very challenging class. Do exactly what he asks for in his assignments and according to his textbook. Class was rewarding and improved my writing. If you take the class online I suggest going to his office for help, he was more helpful and understanding throughout the class after I met him face to face.

The class is hard but can be done if you work hard. He grades extremely tough and is condescending at times. While he does give good feedback, you have to be literally perfect to get an A. He teaches the class like it was in a classroom which is not helpful when taking this class online. This class will demand a lot of time. Do not recommend.

At first, the class is tough, but once you get used to how he does things and wants them it makes the rest of your English career easy. He's very thorough with feedback especially on papers and goes into great detail.

As long as you put in the work you will pass this class. He is very clear on what he wants, and answers questions very clearly. This is a VERY time consuming class, but at the end of the semester it is 100% worth it. Would take again no questions asked!

Even though Mr. Hanson is trying to get us prepared for real life. He does not understand that most of us already have important obligations, like a job and/or family. His due dates and his ideal amount of time are unreasonable for the amount of work that he (very) harshly grades. He is very condescending and confusing. Do not recommend.

He is a longwinded very confusing teacher, his book that he makes his students buy is just as confusing. I wish i didn't have him as a teacher for this semester because all of the work and boring subject matter has made it very hard on all of the students.

I found much of what he said confusing, also he was kind of condescending to all of us students. The papers we had to do were on very boring topics which made it hard to get into writing them.

Comment:
This professor is ridiculous. He has a real knack for being longwinded and requires a ridiculous amount of work on inane subject matter. Expect many hours of busy work - this will be your most time intensive class (even in the RN program). If this is just a supplemental class, take something else. Do not make the same mistake.

Professor Hanson was the best teacher I have ever had. Be prepared to do lots of work, but all of it is worth it. He doesn't require you to do any work that won't help you in the long run. If you're lazy and not willing to learn, don't take his class. If you want to become a better writer, this class is for you. Definitely worth all of the hours!!!

He was the worse teacher I have ever had including teachers form elementary, middle, and high school. He felt that all we done in our free time was do work for his class. The class was like working a second job. He expects way to much. I used a whole pack of paper (500 sheets) printing materials of line for the class. My final was 5400 words long.

Was the worst teacher I have ever had including teachers for elementary, middle, and high school. I felt that he believed that all we done in our spare time was work for his class. I have never spent so much time on anything else before. I went through a whole pack of paper (500 sheets) during that semester printing materials of line for the class

Dr. Hanson expects you to challenge yourself! He expects college level work from college level students. His class is all what you make of it. I had him for ENG161 & I loved it! The class discussions were fascinating! It was trying at times to complete all of the reading & writing assignments, however, I found his grading style to be very fair.
