Comment:

This class during midterms went from my easiest class of the semester to my hardest class. Suddenly we had a 50 question test and two papers due within a week after just listening to him read line for line PowerPoint slides. Nobody really knew how to take notes since he talks so fast and fly's through the slides. If you write more left, you'll pass

Made us make an appointment outside of class time (on HIS schedule) to discuss a paper, which is difficult for a lot of us. Barely even discussed the projects, spent about 10 minutes talking about our papers, the rest of the class was spent on a political rant where you can't get a word in edgewise (I agreed with his beliefs but was still annoyed)

VERY political. He leans far left. Almost insulting if you lean right. I desired to write better but instead, listened to the ramblings of a political few which made it difficult to sit through each lecture. Assignments almost always due on different dates from syllabus so PAY ATTENTION! He was a likable, laid back guy however.

I thought I wouldn't enjoy this professor on the first day of class, obvious left-leaning, etc. but by the third class I really enjoyed the lectures, very informal give and take style, encourages active participation. Hilarious guy with a laid back feel, comes to work in "Hawaiian" shirts. I wish he was teaching ENG 131!

I enjoyed his class, and his style of teaching. Like all other classes, you need to pay attention in class. Many people never knew what asignments were due, even though he said to look on BB and the syllabus...... many times!If you need to be told what to do all the time, go back to high shool! It's not hard to follow directions!

This professor makes you think for yourself. He plays "devils advocate" during discussions, and when reviewing your work. It is meant to make us think, and not his personal opinion. This is the most misunderstood thing about him. He is a great teacher, and I would take another class again with him!

He teaches nothing in class so basically he expects us to teach ourselves. He doesn't tell us what homework is to be done or what's due on what date, he relies on the syllabus for everything. He expects SO much from his students on the assignments, almost as if we're majoring in English so he wants it pitch perfect.. Don't take him!!!

He is sarcastic which makes him a little rough around the edges but over all he's a good professor. He's very helpful and informative when you ask for it. He has a good understanding of the material read in class and encourages you to think more about what is going on in the article and today.

Ohh Mr. House. Though he is a bit sarcastic, he gives great insight to what we read and allows us to understand it better. You can tell he's been doing this for a while, and that does irritate other students. I personally liked him though.

R.House is a great teacher. Only takes attendance probably the first 4 classes, then doesn't anymore. I've missed about 9 classes, & he doesn't care. He's really helpful too, and sarcastic. Makes things funny. Never any tests or quizzes... and all papers are due at the very end of the semester, so there's plenty of time to revise, & he'll help you.

House was awesome. He hardly ever takes attendence, but says the very first class that attendence is important... i think that's to make sure students attend, but he doesn't really enforce it. Hes helpful, and funny. I recommend for eng 111.

Good teacher. Very funny, and easy to listen to. He'll help with papers if you need it. Just always turn your work in on time or he'll take off points. I've taken this professor for Eng 111 and 112. He's great!

AWESOME Prof! He's hilarious & makes it easy to participate in class. He makes you think, & when you turn in papers he returns them to you the next class so you can correct them. He barely takes attendance. He's very good at working one on one with students if you need help. He makes jokes & can be sarcastic. Took him for 111, 112, and now ENG125.

House was good for me..he went over u.s. lit. he read a little, had class discussions where he guided us through interpretting motiffs and themes, meanings of tons of writing works. hes passionate about it. i got an a cuz i tried pretty hard, but overall i enjoyed his class. he will challenge you and help you grow

i really enjoyed him. he may be blunt and sometimes the things he says are not nice but he is only trying to help. every class there was a discussion and tons of laughter he made english fun for me. i signed up for his only 111 class!
