Comment:

This professor is knowledgeable about Biology and thus expects you to be as well. He grades on every little detail, not just what each thing is but more so what it does with other things in a system. He does not curve, but if you attend, he does sometimes give out extra credit quizzes. Without them, I sure would not have passed!

Comment:

He talks like everyone knows the topic already, so if it's your first time learning the subject, it's hard to follow. What really helped me was doing the Pearson online practice tests that come with the book. Also, he does give around 2 extra credit quizzes per test, so I recommend coming to class. This class is challenging compare to other bios.

Comment:

Hardest professor I have ever had to deal with. So much information in his lectures and that basically word for word from the textbook. Read the text book and do the homework assignments because every point matters. Go to lecture because he gives out random quizzes. Would recommend taking a different professor for Bio 105!!!

Dr. Wise was a good professor overall but he throws a lot of information at you. The class only has four exams so if you do poorly on the first one, you're basically screwed. He has a very dry sense of humor and gives quizzes during lecture but they are extra credit!

Wise was a good professor but his exams were very hard. I would go in confident after studying and walk out crying because it was so hard and I didn't know what he was asking. He is an approachable guy and will help you pass the class.

By far the most challenging course I have ever taken. His exams are nearly impossible to pass no matter how much you study. Class average for every exam was a D, but he considers that normal. He skips through powerpoint slides extremely fast. Highly recommend taking a different professor for BIO 105

Overall a great guy. Go to class, he often gives pretty easy extra credit quizzes worth 5 points a piece (if you attempt it you get the points). The exams are pretty tough, STUDY!

He goes through his power points so fast and they don't make sense. The exams are nearly impossible and you take at least five pages of notes a day. He doesn't do extra credit, and doesn't believe in curves.

He is an amazing, hilarious professor. I enjoy going to lectures every morning. He does seem to speed through the lectures so at the end of the unit, before our test. We have 2-3 classes where we are learning new material that wont be on that unit test. Tests are also very difficult, average being about a 60% with 4, 5 point pop quizzes a semester

I had Wise for lab and would recommend him to anyone. He is very approachable, really tries to help you understand concepts if you have questions, and walks through the lab procedures with you before you do them. Overall, he's a really friendly guy, and an effective professor.

I had him for Lab and he was by far the best professor i have ever come across. He is very helpful and is very easy to understand what he is teaching. I enjoyed lab so much because of him, he was awesome. I highly recommend taking him if possible.

I had Wise for Bio 105 lab. He is a very good lab instructor. If you take him you usually get out of lab early which is a plus! 10 point quizzes at the end of each lab. They are very easy and answers are right in the lab manual!

Follows the textbook directly, if you read every single assigned reading and take spectacular notes you will do fine. Never attended class maybe 6 times the entire semester and managed a B by watching his lectures online and reading, but his lectures are hard to understand

Nice guy but his past semesters were SUPER easy and he decided to change it up this year. He words questions weird on his tests and he does not curve even tho our class was getting a D average. On a test we had I know someone that got 14 points back and someone that got 4. When asked about it he said "not everyone gets the same lump some of points"

Professor Wise lectures straight from the book and the test questions are also from the book. Tests are pretty difficult though. S.I. sessions are really helpful. I would recommend getting a tutor. You will have to study and work hard for a decent grade. Attendance isn't mandatory but he gives 5 point extra credit quizzes randomly that are helpful.

Comment:

The best professor I've so far! He is extremely straight forward and all the exam questions come straight out of the book. You will need to study to do good on the exams but its doable. If you miss a class, he records his lectures and puts them on D2L but you should still attend because he gives out 5 point quizzes. Take him if you can :)
