Comment:

Took the JFK class and it was fascinating. Do not procrastinate on the study guides otherwise you will be in trouble; only read when necessary. McAdams is very responsive to emails, open during office hours, and holds study sessions. On the exams just be factual and write as much as you can in the time allotted. I worked hard to get an A.

Comment:

John McAdams is THE MAN. Have had him for three classes but I currently have him for POSC4191 Kennedy Assassination. Some people may not like him because he does go on tangents and might not agree with his political stance (very right-winged) but that does not effect his teaching. If you are republican you will appreciate it. I 100% recommend him.

He is the best teacher I have ever had. I have taken Kennedy Assasination, Public Policy, and Election-Public Opinion with him. He is a nice, funny, and genuinely caring professor. He is smart and whitty. While his classes are not particularly easy, he grades fairly and the classes are enlightening. Go to the review sessions and you'll do well!

One of the best professors I've had. He showed me many things about the American political system in ways that made sense to me. He does grade fairly (contrary to the beliefs of others)...If you put in the time you'll get a good grade.

Prof. McAdams is a great guy. He has been around for a long time and has an old school attitude. Prof. McAdams will call you out in class if he believes you are incorrect. It does create discussion that is good to be heard, but it may be that some perspectives will be left out from time to time.

Not an easy class. It's hard to get yourself to go every day because he won't even know your name. Quizzes every week and a couple exams. If poli sci interests you then I would recommend this class. If not, I would suggest finding an easier teacher.

He's a pretty funny guy, however lectures involve him standing in front of class talking, no visuals. There are quizzes every week, and 2 exams. Pretty simple. Attendance isn't required. Oh, and he's a super conservative, which i happen to enjoy.

Dr. McAdams knows what he's talking about, but if you're not an auditory learner then beware: his lectures are simply him talking for 75 straight mins - no visuals at all. There are 11 quizzes and 2 exams. He is helpful with the review sessions before each exam and offers extra credit occasionally, but just be ready for a lot of talking.

American Politics was my fave class this semester! If you love politics, take McAdams, but maybe try someone else if you don't want to put the work necessary for a good grade (or if his conservative opinions bug you.) He's so accessible - almost daily office hours and available outside that, even weekends. Fab suspenders errryday. Rock on Mac!!!

John McAdams's class is the most challenging course I took this semester. He is a great teacher, good person, and passionate about politics. The only HW is the module readings (do the readings!!!), about 10 quizzes & 3 test. McAdams organizes review classes for tests (at least 2 and on separate days) and is helpful preparing students for exams.

Fascinating professor. Even if you don't agree with him politically, you learn a lot through facts and studies not just opinion.Very interesting topics in this class, though the reading was intense. Overall, one of my favorite classes I've taken. Taking micro econ before this class would be helpful. 1 big paper,2 exams and a final. Very manageable

Mac is a good guy and he knows his shi*. The class is somewhat interesting. Having to go to the study, pre exam sessions are a must. I hated attending those but it helped when exams came around. Mac keeps you on your toes and sometimes can put you to sleep. Take the class because you can do well. Rock on Mac and please get a new tie..

Great Teacher and lecturer! Weekly quizzes, so you need to do the readings but the classes were alot of fun! I recommend taking any of his classes.
