Comment:

Arnett is a very known professor and seems to be smart. I think this just because of all of the books he has written. He would go to class once a week and the class would meet three times a week. He asks for students to buy four of his books and they are mandatory. I think that is not ethical. Kudos to his TA's, they do everything for him.

Comment:

Dr. Arnett is an expert in philosophy and rhetoric. His lectures are almost always thought-provoking, and he is respected in the field. My issue with him is his tendency to ridicule students too harshly. He also critiques the notion of "a culture of narcissism" quite often, yet constantly talks about himself. There's some dissonance there.

I was nervous to take a class with Dr. Arnett because of some of the things other students had told me in terms of his lecturing style. What I discovered was that Dr. Arnett is a very intelligent person with both scholarly and practical knowledge. If you are willing to listen and work through his ideas you will do well.

The single most boring class I have ever had-and attendance is mandatory. The TA's teach the class so Arnett is only there 5 times the whole semester and grading is easy.

Dr. Arnett is a brilliant professor. I'm glad that he has decided to use his super powers for good instead of evil. I would sit in on his class even if I was not earning any college credit!

Very much interested in the feild of comm, but not so much into teaching or his students. Very self-important. Get to know the TA's, you'll learn from them, not him. Classes are incredibly dull. I'd avoid this one.

A bunch of TAs run this class. It's a 2 hour and 30 minutes snooze fest. Arnett will go up and talk for about 30 minutes of it and say "Um Um Camus this. Camus that." This class should only be taken if you are required to as a comm major.

Dr. Arnett is possibly the most intelligent man I've ever met. There is a good reason that he is the head of the dept, and it is illustrated each and every time he lectures. Our group presentation got rave reviews from Arnett, and it was the high point of the class for me... otherwise, it's easy.

I am only disappointed when Dr. Arnett CANNOT lecture. The man is fascinating. I had no interest in taking this class but I will take any that Dr. Arnett teaches. While some may feel this type of class is unimportant, his insight is captivating. I could listen to him lecture for hours.
