A few hours of watercolor painting every week for homework, and he KNOWS when you dont try. He can be relentless and he WILL call you out for not doing work. But if you take the class because you care about the subject... its amazing. Not an easy a if you dont do whats asked but do whats asked and youll breeze right through. Just give effort

You can ONLY use watercolors. He won't give you the syllabus till you have 5 weeks of class left. He's ignorant, pompous, & self centered. If the painting isn't up to his standards then it's trash. He'll say that in front of everyone. If you have a family emergency and miss class he'll tell you maybe it wasn't that important. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

Professor Beitzel was an amazing art teacher. At first he may seem intimidating, but once you get to know him you will absolutely love him. He is an extremely experienced and talented artist; he has studied art all over the globe. I learned so much from him. Put your best effort effort in towards your paintings and you will be fine.

I took this class as an elective choice and I didn't realize I would be surrounded by students who are are blessed artistically. He knows when you don't put time into your work. Very critical, I go to class every week thinking I did well and am shot down. Thank god for extra credit

I loved this professor. He was funny and enthusiastic. He tells fun stories about places he's traveled and gives a lot of information about art. Some people were offended by him, and he could be harsh with people who had a bad attitude, but I was thankful to have taken his class.

Dr. Beitzel is a very, very tough professor. He expects 110% every week, no exceptions. Attendance is MANDATORY. There are a lot of projects, and he will know if you do them the night before. That said, he is excellent and if you do the work he will give you a good grade.

I thought he was an amazing teacher. He did come off as cocky at times, but for the most part was a really intelligent and nice professor. I DID NOT DO A SINGLE EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT AND GOT AN A. I got an A because I did my part and studied and actually put a little bit of effort into the projects. Excellent professor.

He really is a GREAT teacher. He is hilarious and has a sense of humor. I left the class with alot more knowledge of art then when i came in. If you have a bad additude, don't take him. He makes jokes but if you get offended, thats your fault cause they're clearly jokes. But all around great teacher and extremely helpful.

I have a mixed feeling after taking this class. While difficult and frustrating that you have to visit museums for a good grade after he intentionally fails 90% or more on the exam, I feel like I did come away with a greater appreciation for art. If your in it for the grade,AVOID THIS CLASS, but if your in it for the experience then try it out.

He is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He is so prissy and rude. He really made it a point to go around the room and pick apart each person in that class. Sorry T2K, you probably don't have a choice, but good luck. He acts like a 1st grader. He is so immature. Really if you go to every art museum across the country, you'll get an A.
