listen, I totally agree this professor is a tough grader, he is not that clear sometimes, and he is intimidating, however, if you want to become a better artist, this is the professor you want. If you don't care that much and you just need an art credit, take someone else. i had to work my butt off for this class and Ive become a better artist.

By far one of my favorite professors & dare I say an epitome of an excellent professor! He creates a welcoming and light environment which made class (almost 3 hours!) enjoyable. I attribute my tremendous growth in art (esp. my ability to accurately depict life) to this class & him. Prof. G is incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, humorous & caring.

He is a tough grader. Assigns many homework assignments but you have a week to do each of them. Funny in class. Not helpful though, you have to ask him specifically what you can improve./redo. Good class to take.

He is not mean like this site says. I spent all Summer being afraid of him and he was really nice and understanding. The work is challenging, but you learn a lot. Do the work and go to class, and you'll pass no problem.

This professor is awesome! I've taken a few of his courses and feel like my quality of work has improved tremendously! He gives strong feedback and he gives a decent work load, which will only strengthen your abilities. If he's hard on you it's because he knows you can do better. Wonderful professor, highly recommend his courses

This class requires a lot of work, my advice is to show up with confidence and be prepared to show and talk about your work. Prof. Gallagher demands a lot from his students but you will learn a lot and develop some nice work for your portfolio. He can be intimidating and very sarcastic but in the end you will be glad you took his class.

NYC humor, high expectations. Led the most engaging group critiques I've EVER been part of. Professional, picks out the best qualities in your work, and makes all criticism specific and non-personal, but still upsets some with his frankness. Friendly and funny despite reputation for making folks cry. A *MUST* for the AMBITIOUS art student @CCSU!

The best asset of his drawing 2 class is that he is honest and will make you work your butt off. This is college, this is a class you are paying for. You are not going to class to be praised, but to learn. Attend class, and show him that you are improving. He might make you cry; no pain, no gain!

If you show up to every class you will get a good grade. he allows you to redo assignments for better great. VERY hard but if you show up to every class and are willing to do ALL the assignments and put in effort you will do fine! alot of time spent outside of class on assignments.

He is not a nice person. He doesn't ever give you advice when you ask him a question, and makes you feel like an idiot whenever you're confused or don't know how to do something. He doesn't actually teach you anything, he hands you sheets of instructions. Might as well do an online tutorial, you'll learn more, and your confidence won't take a blow.

He assigns a lot of homework, but that's really what you need to get good at art. He always graded me exactly what I thought I deserved even if it was a lower grade. He is a really funny guy. Will let you redo or improve assignments. Will go over assignments with you. Reminds you when things are due. I wish I could take more classes with him.

Easily the best professor I've had. Lots of personality, takes an interest in students. Makes you work for it. Perhaps if more professors were like him we'd have a better art dept. Take him if you want to LEARN, not get an easy A. I don't recommend him for non-art majors.

Dwg II...Have to admit, I have talent and was looking for someone to give me a lot of work to do to get better and build my non-existent portfolio. I found him. He is infinitely more patient than I'd ever be with some of the other students. If you're impatient, looking for an art mommy, or need constant approval, forget it.

If you cannot draw at all and are just looking for a learning experience, forget it! Expect constant criticism on a new level, and tough grading. However, the guy really knows his stuff and can teach you a lot if you are willing to cooperate.

I took Drawing 2 and i was overwhelmed with the homework he assigned. Quality over quantity, Sean. You could give him Picasso like work and he will give a C- or C+. This class is not for light hearted. Oh yeah, he does not answer your e-mails so if you got him this semester good luck and don't forget your Vicodin.

All these people below me have to be art majors. If you are a business major and ok at art, don't take this class. He's cool guy if you get to know him but the art work is nuts. He expects only the best which sucks. Theres a lot of HW, and it easily will take you 3hrs to do and that's prolly for a C+ if your lucky. Really hard intro art class!!

I would highly reccomend taking printmaking in the summer. Everyone I know said they had an awful time with him but when I took him in the summer it was amazing. It was a lot of work but not too much time out side of class, maybe an hour outside of class a week. He was nice and relaxed in the summer, and no one cried.
