She is so disorganized, we didn't even really get a syllabus and by the end of the semester we were so behind due to her poor planning that we had to do a ton of readings in the last few weeks. She is also a surprisingly difficult grader. I almost always get A's or high B's on essays with most professors but I got my first B- with her.

Prof. O'Brien is an inspiring professor who encourages open discussions in her class. She took on tough subjects and created an open environment in which all students felt open to participate. She assigns a lot of reading and is a tough grader, but pushes you to be a better writer and thinker.

Went out of her way to pursue plagiarism charges against a young student despite her own negligence when student asked for her feedback on draft that contained identical passage. She told the student it was "fine."Observing the zeal with which she sought the students expulsion, including a painful "trial" in front of Trustees was disgusting.

I had her for memoir and she is fantastic. I've never had a professor as helpful or interested both in her work and her students' work. If you have any chance to take a class with her, do it!

She's my favorite professor. Definitely a bit unorganized and always changes the syllabus, but very good about sending updates about changes. She's passionate about what she does and loves student input. Very flexible and helpful.

She seems to often teach cross-listed classes. This can be hard at times because while she is very passionate, she is a bit zany and bird-brained. I felt often like there was no point to going to class because she held our hands through everything, but then graded the papers quite stringently. She loves hearing from students and giving feedback.

Prof. is incredibly unoganized. She slowed down so much, we barely covered what we were supposed to. Reading became pointless because we were always so far behind. She's a little tough on papers - surprisingly tough for someone who seems so unorganized and 'free'. She's very intelligent & good to talk to, not a fabulous professor.
