Comment:
Harper is an incredible professor who stresses learning rather than memorization. She creates an awesome and welcoming dynamic in her classroom where everyone feels free to participate and being incorrect is never a big deal. In addition to all of this, she is an extremely friendly person, which is rare to find among math professors in college.

Comment:
As a liberal arts major who still has to do math on their hands occasionally, this class was a godsend. Dr. Harper is a very kind, caring person, and the class itself was incredibly simple and easy. With minimal effort put in, this class should be an easy A. Can't recommend it enough.

Harper is a great professor, take her if you feel like it. But DO NOT take M302. Everyone that I was in this class with (myself included) WAS MISERABLE. It's entirely theoretic math concepts, which you might enjoy if you're into that, but if you're not stem I would honestly just take stats instead. Go to the class before each exam for the review!

Harper is unique. Rather than memorize, she encourages understanding the process. Uploaded notes to be printed helped. A bit harsh when we wouldn't speak up. Exams were based on supplemental HW. Partial credit is nice, but it was tough grading for simple mistakes. She taught with 339V in mind, which is bad for non-actuary. Show her you care!

The class is Flip Module so you teach yourself most of it, and she expects you to understand it once you get to class. Class is mostly just practice problems, with Dr. Harper occasionally explaining concepts. Do not take her if you didn't take calculus in High school

Harper is a great professor. Expect homework due every week, but the assignment are never too long considering an upper div math class (solution manual available). She gives prep assignments for every class that are "required" but they really do help prep for exams and if you do them you will know material well. Feel prepared for FM exam.

Dr. Harper is definitely one of the nicest professors I have met on campus, she's always there for you to provide some help and explains material very well. Speaking from difficulty, some of her problems that she works in the lecture can be challenging, but she will always explain afterwards. Test is not difficult if you do HW and go to lecture.

The material is hard, but getting an A is definitely possible! She is happy to help anyone with questions, more so than the TAs. The HW is quite extensive, but it is the key to doing well in Shinko's class. She puts questions similar to the "Post-Class" online homework modules on her exams, so I would make sure to master all of those problems.

It's technically a flipped classroom but she'll review like 90% of the material in class the next day. (30mins). She'll give hints on problems and make you suffer through a problem but in the end, she'll work it out. Lots of assignments though( Learning Module, Post class, text HW). Test is basically all application. 80 class avg on the exams.

Having never taken calculus, and being a CS major, I found it very hard to excel in this class. You really need to take the time learn everything to do well, and the modules are very extensive and time consuming. Also, having a good TA matters. I personally had someone who's English was not native and it was hard to keep up.

I took her for Calculus and she is a very good teacher. She know how to explain every calculus questions step by step and make sure you understand it. She made Calculus a lot easier for me and even interesting. She is a lot more helpful during office hours. She care for her students and want everybody to succeed.

A stickler for format. Graders and other professors have told me not to use almost everything she required with regards to the format of proofs. Therefore I learned absolutely nothing useful in her class.
